Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Max.
But alongside his coalition "colleagues" he seems a genius.

Interesting, to read the normally right winged press beginning to slam into the Con artists Cameron and Osborne.

M&S seemed to have a reasonable policy with the staff they employ. As a TT I would not like to touch a drop of alcohol.
Hic!

So will it be acceptable for me to ask the cashier what religion they are and if they reply 'muslim' to say 'sorry I don't want you to serve me' and go to another checkout just because I've bought a packet of scratchings?
(knicked this from advfn but its a good point)

When I had my company in the City, a cafe was taken over by a Muslim and his wife. He stopped doing bacon and sausages and was bust in 6 months. The word spread quickly an no one went there for breakfast any more and no take away bacon or sausage sandwiches.

and a thought from down here to all you guys elsewhere ......
We shall be raising our glasses to those less fortunate than ourselves, to those who live a life of bleak solitude, loneliness and desperation, or Northerners as they are known here

GF,
I think it daft, but prepared to accept my own and others daftness.
But, still think in M&S organisations the size of operation makes the choice they make sensible and doesn't effect their working.
However, I think the lady concerned should check the rules and regulations and interpretation of the chosen religion and been explicit at the time of employment.
Perhaps, she will review her "stances".
I know some UKIPpers and Cons change allegiances to other parties and "Christians" become atheists, even known the reverse happen.

I find it strange that the lady concerned chose to work for a company that sells alcohol and pork.

Karren Brady rebuffs SIX offers of safe Tory seats for 2015 election
Karren Brady, a star of the BBC’s Apprentice series, has been offered six safe seats to fight at the next election for the Conservatives.
By Christopher Hope, Senior Political Correspondent
6:00AM GMT 23 Dec 2013
Karren Brady, a star of the BBC’s Apprentice series, has been offered six safe seats to fight at the next election for the Conservatives.
However she has rebuffed them all and insisted that she has to concentrate on her business interests.
The number of opportunities is being seen as a sign of the desperation that the Tories have to persuade the high profile businesswoman to become a Tory MP.
Miss Brady is already well-known in the Conservative party, and has taken on the role of the party’s small business ambassador. She introduced George Osborne, the Chancellor at the party’s annual conference
A source close to Miss Brady said: “Karren found all the approaches very flattering, but she is very busy with West Ham and other work and has no plans for a professional career in politics".

Ms Brady is accustomed to winning - why would she join a party about to be obliterated?

Conservative chairman Grant Shapps said Mr Cable was like a "slightly rude" uncle at Christmas who was tolerated.

I thought he was being honest which I don't think Shapps is use to in the circles he moves.

very simple - not all muslims choose to follow the diktats of their religion, any more than jews do or catholics or any other religion
for example, do you show tolerance to others?
no need to answer yourself, as "very clearly not" is self-apparent from your numerous posts here

Just hold on a second cyners what happens then at M@S when a bird on the till happens to be a vegetarian and a customer brings a juicy joint of pork and a 1lb of sausages, does she tell the customer to find a new till point?????????????
Do M@S cater for vegetarians and vegans or is it just on religious grounds the soft touch for fear of racial discrimination????

Indeed, and as far as I know, no one was asking her to touch or drink the plonk.

But why have a punch up when there is a simpler way of dealing with it. Also, the simpler way keeps the majority of people happy and nobody ends up in A&E.
Also, gives an opportunity for the the "lady" to review her "actions".
Reminds me of bloody minded students standing up for their "rights" but not the "rights" of others.

Perhaps,
Selling the alcohol maybe was to be seen by her as helping the purchaser down the pathway to sin, just as somebody selling cocaine to another, but not themselves using it might be seen by other observers.
