How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Big shock I think.

Must say I love trading this tennis. Even when you call it wrong there are usually plenty of opportunities to bail out with little or no loss.

Could do with a little more liquidity though I suppose.

2-2 henman

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 17:28 - 3606 of 10502

Was at my brothers house when Henman was 2-0 down. He thought Henman would still go on to win. Wish I had had the same faith now.

Great match to trade.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 17:52 - 3608 of 10502

Might be an opportunity looming on Grosjean as he struggles in the first set against Llodra (unseeded)

Scripophilist - 21 Jun 2005 17:57 - 3609 of 10502

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:54 - 3612 of 10502

Nadal wins first set.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:56 - 3613 of 10502

Jumped in at 2.06 on Grosjean as he was losing the first set. Much too early but I was going for my tea. Could have got him at more than 3's.

He;s now 1.44 to lay having won the second set. Should green up but I'll wait for a while I think.

Piptrader - 21 Jun 2005 18:58 - 3614 of 10502

"Should green up..."

Discipline, Harlosh, discipline :-))

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:59 - 3615 of 10502

Yes I know Pip. I'm trying, really trying but the thrill of the chase is winning at the moment.
