required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

well for one thing hilda you could have had us subsidise some more improvements to England's infrastructure.

plus the way you are going by hosting it you would at leats get threee games at the finals...the way you are going you probably wont be there :-)

hee hee

hilary - 02 Dec 2010 18:10 - 364 of 6918

The best improvement to England's infrastructure would be to stick another 15' on top of Hadrian's Wall and move the whole thing 250 miles further south. All subsidies gratefully accepted.

Oh, and we'll keep your oil.

Treblewide - 02 Dec 2010 18:16 - 365 of 6918

deal...apart from our oil.

you guys can go and join the euro.....you could be called northern france or something.

let the good times roll oh cheery one :-)

Treblewide - 02 Dec 2010 20:01 - 366 of 6918

listened to a bit of talk sport today.......some chat that england should withdraw from FIFA, have the vote investigated, people saying england were picked on.

it was comedy gold.......wish they had interviewed Ian Wright......and would love to see that smug little Lord Coe chap's face

good day all round

HARRYCAT - 02 Dec 2010 20:11 - 367 of 6918

Olympics & Rugby World Cup (2015) coming up. What more do you lot want? Plus I need an excuse to visit Russia. Have a look at some of my more dodgy investments there! Couldn't really think of a good reason to go up to now. Hopefully some of our under 21 squad will be eligible by then. Good time to retire some of the overpaid, over rated Prima Donnas, imo.

Chris Carson - 02 Dec 2010 20:16 - 368 of 6918

Treb - Sad, bitter anti english tartan twxt :O) When is the Scotland v Spain match, can't wait!

Treblewide - 02 Dec 2010 20:17 - 369 of 6918

interesting stat...times World cup hosted in Western Europe....10 times hosted in Eastern Europe....0

but i suppose people need someone to blame

the only donwside is scotland no doubt will be stuck at home supporting ABE

HARRYCAT - 02 Dec 2010 20:25 - 370 of 6918

'Old bean'!!!! I resent that.
ITV headline was 'World Cup bid Catastrophe'. Media hype at it's worst.
I wonder if BP will be one of the main sponsors of the Russian World Cup? Big players in the russian energy market.

Treblewide - 02 Dec 2010 20:27 - 371 of 6918

kiss kiss CC

Chris Carson - 02 Dec 2010 20:39 - 372 of 6918

Treb - Any chance of getting us a ticket? We could sit together :O)

Dil - 02 Dec 2010 22:58 - 373 of 6918

Out in the first round .... typical :-)

ptholden - 02 Dec 2010 23:14 - 374 of 6918

Dil

Lol

Naturally, all us English are convinced there is a conspiracy. I must admit once Putin announced he would not be attending the final throes I became convinced he knew it was in the bag and so it transpired. When all said and done 10 WCs in the West v zero in the East cannot be argued against!

Well it's obvious that getting Prince William, the prime minister and a few sports stars to do a catwalk around in Zurich is not going to do the trick.....
You have to do something special to win an organisation like FIFA over.....
England have to start putting some rules through...after all we invented the game...
There should be a rule that first of all prevents past organisers from bidding again to host the finals against rivals that haven't organised them in decades...: for instance : it should not be allowed that Spain should put itself forward having already organised the finals in 1982 and long after England in 1966......the same rule should have been applied to Germany 2006 and Mexico 1986 who both have organised the world cup twice....
There is nothing wrong in Portugal bidding solely as they have never organised the finals before.....South Korea and the USA should not have taken part as they have both organised finals as opposed to Quatar and Australia who have not....
So it should be forbidden that a country should stand against another country who organised the world cup previously...
For instance : if Uruguay bid for the world cup and Argentina bid...Argentina should stand aside to let the Uruguyans win as they held it in 1978, but the Uruguayans only held it decades before.....
I still think that it is crazy to organise the world cup at the height of june in the middle east...
What about training camps for 32 teams ?.....they expect the teams to train in plus 40c heat.....nuts....ridiculous...it will have to be held in winter 2022.....
They promise to build 10 stadiums or so..all air conditioned.......I'll believe it when I see it....the same goes for the Russians who just have 8 years to transform inadequate facilities into a world class platform...

Dil - 03 Dec 2010 00:26 - 376 of 6918

pt , Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of WALES .... you sure he was canvassing for your lot ???

Joe Say - 03 Dec 2010 07:26 - 377 of 6918

We should withdraw and disassociate ourselves from the corrupt bunch of muppets

see if they can fund themselves, and see how they miss us.

and that applies to FIFA as well as Scotland

hilary - 03 Dec 2010 07:50 - 378 of 6918

We invented the game. We should be charging FIFA royalties for using its name.

Treblewide - 03 Dec 2010 08:40 - 379 of 6918

i thought the english were menat to be gracious in defeat?

put yourself in the shoes of one of the delegates...would you vote for the country that basically called them all corrupt 48 hours before the vote......i wouldn't

russia won fair and square and eastern europe have never held it, england have hosted it before...on that level there was only 1 winner...move on there is nothing to see here.

ps joe i would love you to disassociate you lot from us....as i keep saying i am bored of paying for you lot

required field - 03 Dec 2010 09:30 - 380 of 6918

The Russians will have to spend a fortune now to build new infrastructure...and Quatar to.....both heavy exporters of oil and gas.....

Stan - 03 Dec 2010 10:12 - 381 of 6918

They both have fortunes, so that's unlikely to be a problem is it?

required field - 04 Dec 2010 11:45 - 382 of 6918

Whai is ridiculous is allowing Spain to be able to bid again when England have not hosted the WC since 1966...they had it in 1982....to my way of thinking....Spain, France, Italy and Germany and now Russia must all be banned from bidding for the next European WC.....but by all means England ,Portugal, Holland, Greece....should proceed with bids.....and if England did win....we would not bid again unless all the other countries had hosted the competition.....it is only fair....this same rule should apply to the European Championships where it is time by the way that Scotland and Ireland together hosted the event....
