Some more information on whats happening in the tray lidding market -
Cyrovac ( http://www.sealedair.com/eu/en/library/casehist/grampian.html ) were/are also developing Laser sealing rumour has it. Why not ? Laser sealing is so flexible with no tooling. Any kind of thermal (RF/Heat) sealing still needs die cutters to trim hence the long delays in changing line products laser seals then the laser trims the edge programmed pack dimensions and such a quick changeover of product type on the line with no tooling to worry about.
Cryovac also did very well at the recent Flexible Packaging Innovation Showcase 2005.
http://www.flexpack.org/ACHIEV/2005_cfe/2005_innovation_showcase.htm
Cryovac also seem to have taken over the French suppliers for chicken packaging with their own new Darfresh sealing for chicken is that Carrefour ?
http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/news/ng.asp?id=58479
All has to go into the consideration melting pot over future prospects we know Walmart already use the ultra green ultrasonic sealing for clamshell packaging and the like with many companies now potentially doing laser tray lidding what will it all mean ? Will Walmart go to UV cure sealants for Clam and Blister ?
Cryovac also appear to have the red meat market sealed up with their patented technology for double seal fresh meat packing.

"The 12-month agreement will commence from the first Monday following two weeks
of further successful trials with three ASDA suppliers. This is expected to be
in April. These commercial trials are in addition to the completed trial
announced on 1 March 2005"
To say in an RNS to the world "expected in April" and to now be in the 2nd week of MAY - means there are potentially serious problems either with retrofitting or with performance - you do not say "hope April" unless your plans were indeed that. I have been saying for some time - WHY ADDITIONAL TRIALS IN THE FIRST PLACE - there are some serious worries in there IMO.
What happens if the trials with THREE ASDA SUPPLIERS cannot be completed successfully ???
-------
Look at the ambigious wording of the AGM statement -
We announced in March that ASDA Stores Ltd (ASDA) would be the first to adopt
GREENSEAL in the UK, anticipating several hundred machines to be adapted to use
the technology during the first year at the earlier of the completion of three
further trials with ASDA suppliers or the signing of the first commercial order.
The first of these trials nears completion at Youngs Bluecrest, a leading ASDA
supplier.
Feedback from ASDA continues to be very encouraging. As a result of previous
successful ASDA trials using the GREENSEAL technology to seal lids on ready meal
trays, ASDA have extended the trial work to other product areas. Youngs
Bluecrest Seafood Ltd who are an ASDA own label supplier and major brand in
their own right have successfully completed additional trials across a wide
range of products producing results exceeding expectations and in turn leading
to other products in ASDA brand packs on the shelves today. These results
further demonstrate the growing number of benefits to ASDA, its suppliers and
consumers alike.
The first paragraph confirms that the first trial is not complete - the words - "NEARS COMPLETION".
The 2nd paragraph is showing that Youngs have done extra tests on other products - it does not state that the ADDITIONAL TRIALS in the first paragraph as defined in the Asda agreement are finished - just some additional trials Youngs have done.
Clever wording - SP SP SP IN IN IN

Yet another day when buys outnumber the sells - and still the shareprice drifts slowly - oh so slowly south. This seems to be a pattern developing

doesn't make sense to me either. buys virtually double sells! there does seem to be good support at 20p though.
