THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Let's hear it for my Tory MP, Andrea Leadsom, who is definitely going to get my GE vote (after I've finished voting for whoever the hell happens to be my UKIP candidate (can't be bothered to look, really) in the MEP Elections).

Everyone in our parliamentary constituency, who knows anything about her, feels very lucky to have her!

Anyhow, moving on.....

She has just been appointed as the new Treasury Minister, is just into the job, has only just wiped her desk clean and arranged the flowers in her new office and already wants to scrap HS2.

Yeah! Come on Andrea!

Hmmm?

I wonder if Andrea would consider standing for Leader?

MaxK - 26 Apr 2014 10:15 - 39957 of 81564

She's not "on message" yet then.

Hazy One.

Yes, because it was a tax dodge introduced by the Con party previously at the expense of the tax payer. Many could not afford to set up pensions.

I wonder if NF's liver will last out to the next GE.

One of the country's greatest ever Prime Ministers liked a tipple or two.

I'm thinking of Winston Churchill.

His liver lasted out too.

aldwickk - 26 Apr 2014 12:48 - 39962 of 81564

greatest ever Prime Ministers in war time , but in peace time also ? I don't know his record of running the country after the war , but have read that he was not outstanding.

ExecLine - 26 Apr 2014 13:00 - 39963 of 81564

Ryan Giggs will be 'doing a Winston Churchill' at around 5:20pm or so tonight.

At very important times, neither NF, WC or RG bother with booze. They keep a clear head.

did anyone watch Have I Got News for You last night?
very funny and scurrilous as usual, one of the highlights being NF being interviewed about his german-born PA - aka his wife

The public can see that there is a big effort by the main partys and their backer's in the media to discredit UKIP , and i think its going to backfire on them.

Poll shows Ukip lead ahead of vote

1 minute ago | By Press Association

Ukip has surged into the lead in the European election contest despite a bruising week of controversies, according to a poll.

Nigel Farage's party recorded 31% support in YouGov research for the Sunday Times, three points ahead of Labour, with the Tories languishing in third on 19%.

It is the first time the company has given Ukip an outright advantage in the race, with ballots due to be cast in less than a month.

The results are in line with a ComRes poll for the Sunday Mirror and Independent on Sunday last month, which put Ukip on 30%, Labour on 28%, and David Cameron's party on 21%.

The findings suggest Mr Farage has not sustained significant damage from recent furores over his expenses, "racist" posters, criticism of misleading campaign literature, and dubious comments from activists.

I will believe it when I see it. People often say that they will vote this way and that and then don't. When the pols ask those who say they will definitely vote, the results are often different. It is interesting to see that it is just the UKIP voters who don't think their posters are racist. That pretty much shows that UKIP had hoovered up all the racist voters.

http://news.sky.com/story/1250095/ukip-member-lenny-henry-should-leave-britain

A local election UKIP candidate has suggested that British comedian Lenny Henry should emigrate to a "black country".

Enfield candidate William Henwood was responding to recent comments made by Henry that there was a poor representation of ethnic minorities on British television.

On his Twitter account, he tweeted: "He should emigrate to a black country. He does not have to live with whites."

In a statement, UKIP insisted the party was "non-racist, non-sectarian" and that "any comments made by members that fail to uphold these values will be duly investigated and acted upon".

Mr Henwood is not the only candidate to have extreme views revealed in the past week since the party's manifesto was launched.

UKIP Camden candidate Magnus Nielsen claimed that 70% of UK mosques had been "taken over" by "fundamentalists".

According to his Facebook page, he said: "Islam is organised crime under religious camouflage. Any Muslim who is not involved in organised crime is not a 'true believer', practising Islam as Mohammed commanded."

The people are cheesed off with dave, ed and nick, and they don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths.

And that's the real problem Haystack!

Haystack - 27 Apr 2014 13:00 - 39973 of 81564

Farage's appeal is to the anti immigration sentiment that is an undercurrent these days. The 'little Englander' attitude has gained in prominence due to economic problems. If there was a boom and full employment, very few people would care about immigration and UKIP would be dead in the water. I don't think it has anything to do with the public's view of the leaders of the main parties. Farage is a rabble rouser in the same tradition of all extreme one policy parties. It is no coincidence that the right wing fringe parties are on the rise across the world at a time of ecenomi problems. UKIP are just opportunists with a hidden nasty agenda,

MaxK - 27 Apr 2014 13:23 - 39974 of 81564

You have no coherent answers, do you Haystack?

All you can do is drag out the usual smear tactics and hope for the best.
