World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

required field - 15 Oct 2008 14:06 - 4 of 1154

Not sure if I understand the last blog,.....don't get me wrong : I have nothing against Scottish teams....just that as of late the national side is lacking imagination and flair , and except for Rangers in Europe the club sides have not performed well, and I think getting to that uefa final was more by luck than anthing else !.

Treblewide - 15 Oct 2008 14:21 - 5 of 1154

required field i am scottish and we have had a lack of real talent for year...the pace we play our game at up here does not help...however i am yet to be convinced by england...they are setting themselves up for the ususal fall...i was amazed in the after match chat after Croatia some of the usual idiots suggesting they could win the world cup........they are miles away form that

i dont see scotland qualifying but the republic seem to have an outside chance

jeffmack - 15 Oct 2008 14:29 - 6 of 1154

Have England started penalty practice yet

Treblewide - 15 Oct 2008 14:39 - 7 of 1154

dont know if they will get far enough to need them this time jeffy old bean :-)

required field - 15 Oct 2008 15:24 - 8 of 1154

I hope we don't get knocked out on penalties (that's if we qualify !), England need to out to South Africa with modest ambitions...no boasts, the WAGS locked up for a month and the team should go out on the pitch like they want to eat the opposition, (no fouls though)...., Treblewide : Scotland can still make it...must not drop too many points now though......some variations in the style of play is much needed !.

Good result last night !.....

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 09:03 - 10 of 1154

How many go through from each group? 1 or 2?

Andy - 16 Oct 2008 09:18 - 11 of 1154

My predictions;

England - We're talking ourselves up into a fall, again!

Scotland - Not a hope

Wales - Significantly less chance than Scotland!

N. Ireland - Significantly less chance than Wales!

Dil - 16 Oct 2008 09:27 - 12 of 1154

Andy we have lost 2 matches by a single goal , one away to Russia the other away to Germany.

In both matches we should have come away with at least a point but the youngsters that make up the majority of the team will have learnt a lot.

England will qualify but will win fcuk all.

Fred1new - 16 Oct 2008 10:51 - 13 of 1154

Is this the blow football thread?

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 12:31 - 14 of 1154

andy..why have scotland not a hope? they are sitting second in their group? agreed they have had a patchy start but we are at our bets when our backs are to the walls

typical english arrogance but you are right about england you will blow it again with all your overpaid heart-not-in-it footballers.....they only care about the money

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 12:39 - 15 of 1154

After the abuse that Ashley Cole took by a small section of fans on Saturday, I wouldn't blame him if he stuck two fingers up and walked away from the national team. He's loaded. His wife's loaded. Why does he need grief from a bunch of oiks?

That said, I think Capello's doing a great job. The guy's a winner and his positive mentality is now starting to rub off onto the players.

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 13:26 - 16 of 1154

how about for the honour of representing your country on the biggest stage possible......it would mean more to most football fans than money...but we are talking about cashley cole here

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 14:24 - 17 of 1154

Well it's probably the honour that you refer to which will motivate him to carry on, Treble.

I'm just saying that I don't think anyone could justifiably blame him if he were to walk away. I'm obviously not in his shoes but, if I were, I'm pretty sure that I'd say, "I don't need this. Bye."

Ashley Cole cheated on the Arsenal Fanswho took him to their hearthe cheated on Arsene Wengerwho showed faith in him and was betrayedin spite of winning two league and three FA Cup winners he illegally approached Chelsea to offer his services and was caught out and found guilty finned 100,000 by the Premier League and he cheated on Cheryl Tweedyhis wife with several women. Apart from that hes wonderful! He was booed by Arsenal supporters that will never forgive him. not England supporters!
By the way I support West Hamwho produced the greatest footballer and gentleman England have ever hadBobby Mooreand no cheating with him!

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 15:01 - 19 of 1154

hils i dont agree the man is a mulit millionaire and paid handsomely for doing what he does, he has a great lifesytle...he made a howler on saturday...are the paying public not allowed to express their opinion of that mistake in case it upsets him?......lot of nonsese..you need to take the rough with the smooth.....

so i would blame him for walking away just because he got a bit of stick for making a mistake.........it is football industrial language and abuse are parts of the game

tabby go away

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 15:06 - 20 of 1154

hils....take gary mcallister as an expample...he did the unthinkable for a scotland player...he missed a penalty in a major finals against england...he was never forgiven for it and got abuse playing for scotland after that...but he continued on for many years.....he did not go in the huff and ask for his ball back so he could go home to mummy crying...it is a man's game...get fookin on with it

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 15:08 - 21 of 1154

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 15:16 - 22 of 1154

And who can forget the ali tartan army.they were good.sorry tartan barmy!
Pissy offee aint it!

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 15:17 - 23 of 1154

Of course the fans have got every right to boo whoever they want to boo for whatever reason they want to.

If booing your own players were to serve for the common good of the team, then I think it should be encouraged. Somehow though, I doubt that it did anybody any good whatsoever on Saturday. And, as ChilliBoy says, it was almost certainly a small element of Arsenal fans who did the booing on Saturday. What does that say about the Gooners? They really aren't the brightest bulbs in any box.
