I'm using a machine today which only has the Microsoft works version of spread sheet software, is it possible (cos I can't find it) to import external data into this?

Hi i use TD waterhouse and the lastr few days i cannot get on site after i have
put down password etc i get 2 boxes up the 1st one saying geting file info from
td waterhouse with files going from the world icon to the file icon imposed on this box is the one that highlighted saying iternet explorer cannot download
e page landing and directoy news from tdwaterhouse internet explore was unable to open this site the request is unavailable or can not be found please try again later.

morning guys,

I have got a bizzare problem this morning.
I can lauch my Internet Explorer and it sits on the bottom task bar
but I can not physically open it although its clearly logged onto the
default home page.
Tried right-click and restore but to no avail - help..

Horst,

Try Control Panel/Add Remove programs. Find Internet Explorer and click the Change/Remove button. One of the options presented will be "Repair Internet Explorer".

If that fails, go to www.windowsupdate.com and download the latest service packs/updates, that usually cures this sort of thing.

Check your anti-virus software is up to date, in case there's a nasty on there causing it!

I finally figured what was wrong after following your advise but did not solve it.
I have a multi-screen setup via a matrox card with 3 monitors.
For some reason 1 (master) 4 & 5. It turns out that for some reason monitor 2 got installed and subsequently the browser opened itself into this "new" monitor. So, the browser opened a normal but on Monitor 2 which seemed for me to disappear into nowhere. Now I have deleted this setup (monitor 2) again it seems to work as before.
This really had me snookered for a while!

Help please.
I am trying to uninstall Windows media player version 9.Ive gone to add remove and deleted,Still comes up.
REGED and removed file. Still there!
Programme files, deleted folder.Yes! Its still there.
It will not display video for some reason. Says there is a codec error.Ive tried re-downloading it with no sucsess.thats why I want to delete it and start again.

Buy an applemac machine you just DO NOT have these sort of problems,it was the best move I have ever made,no more blue screens,get the odd spinning beachball of death, but you can just forcequit, fire up the browser and carry on surfing.
You will never reget the move.

Tried to download earlier version.Wont Install as i have newer version.Tried system restore without luck.Looks like im stuck with media player, that doesnt! :-(

I found the following:-

"Just execute this command to uninstall Windows Media Player 9 from Windows XP:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

If you dont believe me, then check the wmp.inf before you do this.

I only had to correct the command line parameter afterwards from "%L" to "%1" and the good old Media Player 6.4 was working again."

Together with this:-

into the Run box, it will give a popup that says

Error: could not locate INF file '% windir%\INF\wmp.inf'

Q. What am I doing wrong?

A. Check if wmp.inf is in your C:\windows\inf directory.

If not, probably something went wrong trying to install or uninstall WMP9. Try installing WMP9 again and then use the uninstall command as mentioned to uninstall it again.

Not everybody knows how to apply the manual uninstall so I will explain it step by step:

Go to your "Start" menu and click "Run".

Copy "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection % windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall"

into the dialog box and click "OK".

WMP9 should uninstall now.

A final problem.Im using two monitors with a Matrox g550 card. When I try to play a video through media player on both screens, it only shows in one of the monitors. It plays fine in one but if I drag it to both. Only get the one half playing.

Iain, I don't have the answer to that I'm afraid, short of suggesting you ask Matrox on their forum at http://www.matrox.com, but I'm curious as to why you would want to display a video split across two screens!

Just for the hell of it;-)
My kids wanted to watch the harry potter DVD on the Computer and were V dissapointed that it wouldnt play in both screens and so was I.

Error message on start up-- I get the following error message on start up "Unhandled exception C0000005 at address 100016b" then it says ok if I click on ok it dissappears and says the usual " do you want to send an error Report. Nothing seems to be affected on my PC and it of course cancels every time when I click ok. Pc is using Windows XP home and XP office.
Any ideas on how to correct appreciated-- many thanks.
