THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

IDS likes to portray himself as a great reformer, weaning millions of sick and disabled claimants off their supposed benefits dependency.

The reality is that he is a startlingly incompetent failure protected by a discriminatory and unprofessional press office.

And, one day soon, even the hate-mongering tabloids he feeds will grow tired of covering up his catastrophes and turn on him.

David Cameron may campaign to leave EU if Juncker is appointed, No 10 suggests

Downing Street refuses to rule out campaigning for a 'no' vote in any future referendum on the future of Britain's place in the EU in an effort to spur Europe into action on reform

By Georgia Graham, Political Correspondent

2:34PM BST 23 Jun 2014

David Cameron has refused to rule out campaigning for Britain to leave the EU if European leaders support the appointment of Jean Claude-Juncker, Downing Street has suggested.

The Prime Minister’s deputy spokesman would not deny reports Mr Cameron has told European leaders that Mr Junker’s election could lead to him recommending Britain vote to leave the EU if the promised referendum takes place in 2017.

Mr Cameron has been attempting to block the appointment of Mr Juncker but is increasingly resigned to defeat.

Widow aged 95 with failing eyesight is kicked off her GP's register to make way for migrants. Doctors say they cannot cope with town's soaring population

Lily Dove, 95, has been 'de-registered' from her GP in Watton, Norfolk

Along with 1,500 others, she has been told to move to another practice

The process is a result of lack of GPs and increased population

the slimeball knows no bounds ......

Blair eyes Abu Dhabi office as he looks to expand Middle East role
Tony Blair is looking to open an office in Abu Dhabi, the increasingly assertive oil-rich emirate, in an apparent bid to expand his role as a behind-the-scenes business and political broker in the Middle East

Haystack - 23 Jun 2014 20:45 - 42757 of 81564

Blair is getting more involved in the 'make Blair rich' project. It has been going very well so far. He has extensive business interests in the US where they think he is as almost a god. He facilities business deals in Israel and across the Arab world. He is virtually the only person in a position to do business in the whole ME. His Middle East Peace Envoy job is a nice cover and excuse to be all over the region.

Slimeball - far too kind

Haystack - 23 Jun 2014 21:15 - 42758 of 81564

This is from Jan 2013

The Sunday Telegraph yesterday reported that Tony Blair “will enter the rich-lists for the first time this year” and, according to accountants, he also has “a complex web of companies, designed… to hide just how much money he makes and from where his money comes.”

According to the Telegraph, Blair’s business empire now also has a trading arm, headed by the former managing director at Barclays Capital and staffed by recruits, licensed by the FSA, from Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan and KPMG.

Clients include such liberal regimes as the well-known democracies of Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Qatar.

This is interesting from last summer

Until recently, Tony Blair had never visited Malawi. Last summer there was a lot of international press coverage on the discovery of oil under Lake Malawi. Since then he’s developed an interest in Malawi’s “governance” and has visited twice in nine months.

He arrives in Malawi today, having successfully shoehorned a couple of staffers from his “Africa Governance Initiative” into high level advisory roles with Joyce Banda’s government.

It’s anyone’s guess why Blair still believes he and his cronies are worth listening to. Presumably for the same reason this inveterate warmonger saw fit to rack up bills of £1 million per year at the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem while working as a “peace envoy”. (He’s obviously doing a terrific job and no doubt the Middle East will be at peace any time now). Egyptians know him as an astute analyst of international affairs — remember how he pointed out that Mubarak was “immensely courageous and a force for good” in, ahem, February 2011?

Fred1new - 23 Jun 2014 21:40 - 42760 of 81564

Blair would make a perfect tory.

I would think Cameron and Porky would have a plaque of him on the walls of the Cons HQ next to Maggie and worship it each day.

Definitely same principles!

I think I can smell the scent of jealousy in Manuel and Hazy's posts.

Fred1new - 23 Jun 2014 21:42 - 42761 of 81564

PS.

Always thought of him as tory mole planted in the Labour party.

goldfinger - 23 Jun 2014 21:50 - 42762 of 81564

Me too.

Hays would be applauding Blair if he was a Tory, corrupt as he is.

Cynic too.

Haystack - 23 Jun 2014 22:01 - 42763 of 81564

It is not relevant which party he is from.

MaxK - 23 Jun 2014 22:03 - 42764 of 81564

I'm a tory (proper one), and I detest the man...snake oil salesman of the first order.

Stan - 23 Jun 2014 23:07 - 42765 of 81564

Tory Blair?.. now where shall I start.

Fred1new - 24 Jun 2014 08:08 - 42766 of 81564

Max.

I thought the only proper tory was ----!

8-)

Haze,

I thought Blair demonstrated typical true tory values!

I know he wasn't an etonian, but certainly appears to the description given of the present cabinet:

Etonians,’ said Fraser, ‘are the ultimate pragmatists, totally free of any ideology. Other than the means of getting and gaining power, no conspicuous motives inspire them. It’s not clear that Etonian politicians really believe in much except themselves

Of course I would not agree with the description.

MaxK - 24 Jun 2014 08:26 - 42767 of 81564

I would Stan, but I suspect it applies to all the main runners and riders.

goldfinger - 24 Jun 2014 08:31 - 42768 of 81564

Typicaly just look after themselves, yep that sounds about right about Etonians and Public school Boys.

Thugs aswel, smashing up coffee bars, having bun fights etc etc.

No respect for other people or the law in general.

Was M Fabricant a public school boy??????
