Fred1new - 31 Oct 2004 17:08

Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

Home safe ....

But it's not over yet as DOW appears to be down 122 presently. So only buy using Monopoly money....

Stan - 15 Aug 2007 22:08 - 444 of 1427

Home and dry with the Dow down 160+

...Keep hands in pockets until further notice I think.

Morning.....

The following page gives location info for Barton Arms:

http://www.oakhamales.com/Contacts.asp?m_pid=0&m_nid=3650

(Will check nearest parking in a couple of weeks time).

Regarding ArtsFest (14th -16th September 2007 in Birmingham city centre) then website ( http://www.artsfest.org.uk ) not giving full info yet but does mention
"ArtsFest-goers will also benefit from sneak preview tours around the newly re-furbished Town Hall"....

PS: UK smallcap opening - Capital Pub Co ticks up on pub acquisition

Stan - 16 Aug 2007 11:07 - 446 of 1427

If you can find acceptable parking at the BA that would give us options.

Thanks for Town Hall info.

Only slight concern with Capital is the amount of Dept, but interesting outfit all the same.

FTSE presently fallen to below peak of Spring 2006.... Wonder where it'll be by the time of next meeting ..... ?

Stan - 16 Aug 2007 12:21 - 448 of 1427

"Wonder where it'll be by the time of next meeting ..... ?"

The mind boggles.

Apparently the Dow Futures have -125 for this afternoon.

survived87 - 16 Aug 2007 13:30 - 449 of 1427

And ...

"Futures markets were no respite, with even the previous safe haven of gold losing ground, down $5 an ounce at $674.70.

Oil futures dropped $1.28 to $72.05 a barrel"

Stan - 16 Aug 2007 14:04 - 450 of 1427

And I'm off to the dentist...just to cheer myself up you understand )-:

survived87 - 16 Aug 2007 14:30 - 451 of 1427

Hope his mind is not on his share portfolio as he drills'n fills...i

Stan - 16 Aug 2007 15:45 - 452 of 1427

Awfully glad I hadn't read your last post S87 before departing to said butcher..erm sorry dentist as I hate going there.

Still good and bad news, checkup fine but an x-ray required for a sensitive tooth...no news will be good news.....just like the market really I suppose.

Fred1new - 16 Aug 2007 16:11 - 453 of 1427

It will keep your mind off the market. Just moved a few bob back into my Bank account.

I am feeling the pain. Think I will follow Survivor into the paint trade.

Fred1new - 16 Aug 2007 16:22 - 454 of 1427

I forgot to inform our followers of this group, that membership is expanding rapidly and the attendance was up by 25% yesteday!

If it continues to increases at this rate we will have to charge for membership.

That is if the other three attendees agree!

Stan - 16 Aug 2007 16:32 - 455 of 1427

Most certainly, quality advocacy does not come cheap.

Bartons Arms - has its own smallish car park immediately next to it on corner of B4144 & A34 - covered by a CCTV camera. 10m walk to the front door. Lunchtime today plenty of spare car parking space as only four cars in car park.
As Bartons Arms is at crossroads of dual carraigeways, then car park has to be approached in correct direction - that's westbound along Park Lane (B4144). Then turn left down small road (Potters Lane) that is immediately before the main crossroads with A34.....

Excellent Thai lunch menu. Good value as well with dishes in 4 - 5 range.

PS: The following venue seems well stocked with spirits:

"Whisky haul seized at coach depot...

More than 12,000 litres of whisky were seized in Walsall by customs officers.
The Teachers whisky was confiscated at a coach depot in Bentley Lane on Saturday, HM Revenue and Customs said....."

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 16:18 - 458 of 1427

So Barton Arms looking promising S87?....not sure about Walsall )-:

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 16:26 - 459 of 1427

Yep.... 'Easy' walk from car park. Also is easy to get to by bus #33 which runs every few minites starting from near Carling Academy in Brum City Centre.....About 10 mins journey on bus.
BA is also quieter than the Old Pie Throwing Joint..... And serves a nice variety of real ales...
