Oi, you two, less of the smooching.

MightyMicro - 11 Oct 2005 10:16 - 4486 of 11056

C'mon you FX Traders, let's be having you.

I know you're there, share some of the drama, the joy, the heartbreak, the glory, the foul-ups with the rest of us. We can't learn without the shared misery (did I say that?) -- I meant experience.

hilary - 11 Oct 2005 11:07 - 4487 of 11056

I'm more interested in getting rid of all the blasted leaves in my garden today, MM. The gardener left me with about 25 bin bags of them yesterday. What do you think that I should do with them?

:o)

hilary - 11 Oct 2005 12:27 - 4488 of 11056

Oh, and don't forget my bimini top while you're in the States.

:o)

MightyMicro - 11 Oct 2005 20:43 - 4489 of 11056

What size bikini top, Hil?

Oh, and I should go long Autumn leaves.

hodgins - 12 Oct 2005 08:10 - 4490 of 11056

pound turns on support and Fib time day?
Too late for Autumn leaves longs here as they are almost all down, need to lop trees to get Sky reception back as they certainly went long.

Sue 42 - 12 Oct 2005 08:17 - 4491 of 11056

She said bimini top - so presumably its a bit of equipment to go on her boat? not somethging to wear????!!!!

hilary - 12 Oct 2005 08:46 - 4492 of 11056

Sue's right. I don't think they do these in a 34D.

:o)

Maggot - 12 Oct 2005 09:28 - 4493 of 11056

Haven't posted recently - not much to say. Currently small short on Cable from 1.7441 - a lovely downtrend on the four-hour chart.

MightyMicro - 12 Oct 2005 10:10 - 4494 of 11056

That's not the kind of top I was visualizing our Hil in.

No Autumn leaves here in California -- just the bloody bush that grows in front of the deck at my apartment. Time for the secateurs. Talking of cuts, any views on UK rates next time. I reckon 25 points down and the Fed up the same.

hilary - 12 Oct 2005 10:34 - 4495 of 11056

I don't bother to wear the type of top that you were visualising me in, MM.

:o)

Both on hold, imo.

foale - 12 Oct 2005 13:52 - 4496 of 11056

this thread is going to be very popular if you lot keep on about

cup sizes

bikinis

and now someones has introduced "bush trimming..."

apologies for lowering the tone... :-)

mg - 12 Oct 2005 15:24 - 4497 of 11056

foale
Who is Tone and why are you apologising for lowering him?

Just the kinda level to suit me sir - but wish I was trading the cable a bit better.

Decided against a long this morning about 1.7410 :( - and have been trying to short it a couple of times - got positions at 1.7540 and 1.7530 - in my usual contrarian way ;(

chocolat - 17 Oct 2005 02:14 - 4498 of 11056

UK housing market rebounds in Oct to end 3 months of falls - Rightmove

1.80's not out of the question with cable imo.
Anyway, long for all of an hour :S (still happier short and looking for a re-test of 1.73)
Not around much at the moment - clock's all over the place.

Maggot - 17 Oct 2005 15:26 - 4499 of 11056

Short Cable from 611 and, amazingly, I'm in profit. It's weird - from tending to make money on CFDs and lose it on spreadbetting, in the last month they've reversed! It's because I can now resist the temptation to try to take a few points when the chart is meandering. I've been disciplined and only betting when I can see the obvious get-out spots, and running my profits instead of scalping, and it's working.

STORMCALLER - 18 Oct 2005 00:51 - 4500 of 11056

After weeks of navel gazing, pain, angst, etc, have very nervous cable short @ 530

STORMCALLER - 18 Oct 2005 08:50 - 4501 of 11056

Out for +10......chicken!!!
So long since I had a "+".......is that good??..........lol

hilary - 18 Oct 2005 09:53 - 4502 of 11056

Stormy,

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you would open a position late at night and then presumably go to bed and not worry about it, only to panic out of it first thing once you've woken up.

I guess that you left an overnight stop on the position which wasn't triggered. I don't know what your criteria was for assessing that stop, but why did you not just re-assess where the stop should be this morning and adjust it accordingly? What has changed while you've been asleep? If you suffer from twitchy finger syndrome from looking too closely at the screen, why not just go for a nice long walk in the fresh air and forget about your open position(s) ........... you might just be pleasantly surprised upon your return.

I really do hope that helps.

STORMCALLER - 18 Oct 2005 11:24 - 4503 of 11056

hilary,
After a complete change of approach (all my own work after promised help let me down..:-( ) and paper trading the result, I finally got up enough (dutch) courage to put a trade on last night.
As soon as it allowed I placed a stop for a 10 point gain...and went to bed.
I only found out this morning that it had been triggered about 2:30 am.

Criteria for stop: weak I am afraid, but having had such difficulties with this, when the trade went positive, and I had to get some sleep after a bad weekend, I set the stop @ +10 and left it.
It had become important to me that this first trade ended +ve, and in that I succeeded.
Now that first one is out of the way hopefully I can improve, and thank you for taking the time to suggest a way forward..:-)
(what me?? trigger happy....lol)

Regards
