Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Not yet, rf, imo. DES should be dragged further up by RKH momentum.

avsec - 18 Sep 2010 10:11 - 4560 of 6492

Agree with Pros (4557) -even FKL are being swept along on the crest of the wave.

I am surprised by Chav who normally gets it right. My current 60/20/20/0 of RKH/DES/FKL/FOGL covers Falkland Oil for me. I was overcommited in RKH but decided to take the punt - hence the relief at the news.

Broke a number one rule of posting - DPP (don't post pissed!)

chav - 19 Sep 2010 03:16 - 4561 of 6492

I guess we shall see whether I've made the right move or not in circa 5 weeks, when Rachel result should be known.....RKH for Grannies and DES for Chav's!!

required field - 19 Sep 2010 09:05 - 4562 of 6492

At this price I will not be in when the results filter through ....sp will have to come back to a reasonable level....

chav - 19 Sep 2010 12:26 - 4563 of 6492

The first Oil Charter flight flew into the FI's yesterday, so that will improve logistic's hugely.

HARRYCAT - 19 Sep 2010 12:34 - 4564 of 6492

What's an 'Oil charter flight'?

Proselenes - 19 Sep 2010 12:43 - 4565 of 6492

New regular flight service to the FI's from/to the UK, chartered plane but a regular schedule.

HARRYCAT - 19 Sep 2010 12:47 - 4566 of 6492

I presume freight only?

markymar - 19 Sep 2010 13:11 - 4567 of 6492

Workers Harry

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2010 08:57 - 4568 of 6492

Even DES had a wee surge this morning, but has fallen back. Reality now setting in.

cynic - 20 Sep 2010 09:14 - 4569 of 6492

until the dust settles and there are some half-way respected evaluations (not the half-baked crap that gets regularly posted by opium smokers on BBs), then it is pretty much impossible to evaluate the worth of DES, either as a stand-alone or relative to RKH

required field - 20 Sep 2010 09:17 - 4570 of 6492

Anybody shorting this....?....still thinking of it but hesitating....

Balerboy - 20 Sep 2010 09:17 - 4571 of 6492

late this morning cynic......sleep on your shirt tail..

cynic - 20 Sep 2010 09:20 - 4572 of 6492

had more important things to do, like real biz ...... meanwhile am contemplating what to do here and with RKH, shorting being not remotely in the equation

Balerboy - 20 Sep 2010 09:21 - 4573 of 6492

bet the mrs enjoyed that.....

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2010 09:35 - 4574 of 6492

152p to buy atm. Assuming Marky is right that RKH will go up even further on imminent AGM & RNS, there must be a little more upside in DES. Worth trading, imo, though risky hold at this price.

required field - 20 Sep 2010 09:37 - 4575 of 6492

Got to be worth shorting soon......

required field - 20 Sep 2010 09:38 - 4576 of 6492

Dropping like a stone....damn...should have listened to myself....

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2010 09:41 - 4577 of 6492

Yes, but with trailing stop. Impossible to predict where the bounce will be.

cynic - 20 Sep 2010 09:52 - 4578 of 6492

well don't just talk about shorting ..... if you feel that way, then act .... personally, i think it's poor risk
