Early lunch I think. Two large pork chops, mashed potatoes gravy and some onions and greens followed by treacle tart (no custard - extra treacle). Washed down with a bottle of red wine.

Interesting comment Socs - no news is bad news. Is that a general rule or just a rule for Reuters? Oh, Reuters is a news purveyor isn't it - you were having a leetle joke, yes?

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 12:51 - 4564 of 23498

Hello all.

I thought i might start up a Horse Racing Game just for fun as usuall. If you take part i will start each punter off with say 5000 and will select a horse race that is due to be shown on TV at the weekends. You make your bets and win or lose accordingly to the actual outcome! Does anyone fancy the idea?????????

jeffmack - 05 Mar 2004 12:52 - 4565 of 23498

I'm in for that

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 12:52 - 4566 of 23498

Hi littlewoman, nice to see you again - you seem like a very busy woman.

jeffmack - 05 Mar 2004 12:52 - 4567 of 23498

What if we all choose the same horse

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 12:53 - 4568 of 23498

I thought that was you jeffmack sitting in the corner reading the FT. :-)

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 12:56 - 4569 of 23498

All choose same horse? well everyone will have on different bet amounts and either win or eachway and maybe punters can bet on as many horses as you like in one race maybe even do an accumulator?

little woman - 05 Mar 2004 12:56 - 4570 of 23498

Hi GD - just dropping in for a sec to put my feet up.

Unfortunetly I can't earn enough trading to live off it - so have to work occassionally to pay the bills................... and then off course the silly little domestic chores need to be done from time to time, and I pretend to have a life outside the market :-).............

jeffmack
It is very probable that everyone will lose their money

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 13:00 - 4572 of 23498

and what lovely feet you have little woman, but please not in the salad bowl! :-)

Hi Opy, most likely. (just like in the real world)

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 13:03 - 4573 of 23498

Actually it will be interesting to see if the 'in the know' horse punters can out perform the 'pick a nice named horse' punters. Idea is still in early thought stages so we shall see what comes up!! (no not that!)

optomistic - 05 Mar 2004 13:05 - 4574 of 23498

GD
Are they little feet? I understand LW is 5ft 8"
LW
I can't see any way to make money in todays market
Opy (GD seems a good abbrev for the Tea Room)

Golddog - 05 Mar 2004 13:09 - 4575 of 23498

Why have you measured her?

Must dash! (poochy jumps out the door and hurtles up and over the hills)

vasey - 05 Mar 2004 13:17 - 4576 of 23498

poochy.....like horse bet idea but have to admit complete ignorance as to what an 'each-way' bet is. Could you please do an idiot's guide to the jargon for those of us who might be more clueless than you might have imagined? (Could you please post which ones have blue eyes and are smiling for the cameras? Thanks)

optomistic - 05 Mar 2004 13:20 - 4577 of 23498

vasey
You are sure to be a winner with your knowledge on racing!
Never mind the details just keep looking at the eyes.

optomistic - 05 Mar 2004 13:24 - 4578 of 23498

Vasey
Forgot, sometimes they cover up the horses eyes, I know why now: just to make it difficult for the ladies.

optomistic - 05 Mar 2004 13:24 - 4579 of 23498

vasey - 05 Mar 2004 13:29 - 4580 of 23498

Even I know that is plain nonsense. They wouldn't be able to see where they are going.

optomistic - 05 Mar 2004 13:36 - 4581 of 23498

vasey
Umm definately worried about you, don't you realise thats why the little man who sits on the back has a stick, he keeps tapping the horse on its bottom to tell it which way to go.
Join me in some refreshment and we will have a talk about this, what would you like?

Bullshare - 05 Mar 2004 14:01 - 4582 of 23498
