THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

tomasz - 19 Sep 2014 07:03 - 45926 of 81564

just got tv on and breaking news says "Scotland votes no...prime minister talking to salmon.." ..what is he says to him...literally -"mega lol"?

MaxK - 19 Sep 2014 08:43 - 45927 of 81564

more like "how much cash do you want?"

Haystack - 19 Sep 2014 08:54 - 45928 of 81564

Big gap in favour of no. There is now a strong demand for an England only parliament in exchange for Scotland getting new powers. That will be with no Scottish MPs in our parliament. That, of course, means 41 less Labour MPs, 11 Liberal MPs and 6 SNP MPs. That's pretty much a regular Conservative majority.

Chris Carson - 19 Sep 2014 08:58 - 45929 of 81564

RESULT!!!

cynic - 19 Sep 2014 08:58 - 45930 of 81564

not sure if that would be so .... i interpreted as meaning that scottish mp's could only vote on issues affecting the whole union .... or put another way, they would be excluded from those issues over which the "new" scotland had independent control in scotland (i think that makes sense)

Haystack - 19 Sep 2014 09:02 - 45931 of 81564

Cameron has said this morning that the new powers for Scotland have to be done in the same timetable as changes to our parliament. The news powers are extensive and include income tax, NHS etc. That could means Labour having no influence on major decisions.

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 09:04 - 45932 of 81564

Unravel, the complications of false promises!

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 09:05 - 45933 of 81564

My guess, if there is a referendum on EU as PROMISED by Wavey Dave the result will be similar!

MaxK - 19 Sep 2014 09:11 - 45934 of 81564

The divil will be in the details....and I bet there will be a few nasty's lurking beneath the surface.

Haystack - 19 Sep 2014 09:19 - 45935 of 81564

Crushing defeat for Salmond. Only 4 out of 32 councils voted yes. Some areas were 2 to 1 against yes.

VICTIM - 19 Sep 2014 09:25 - 45936 of 81564

Learnt last night just one vote either way out of those millions would have given a result.

cynic - 19 Sep 2014 09:27 - 45937 of 81564

in all seriousness, what we do NOT want in england, is any gov't with a crushing majority that will be (far too) difficult to overturn

goldfinger - 19 Sep 2014 09:40 - 45938 of 81564

HAYS .....you do talk clap trap.

The result was fantastic for labour before the GE.

Lets face it, Gordon Brown as saved Camorons bacon.

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 09:41 - 45939 of 81564

Manuel,

At last another glimmer of sense from you.

After that you need a lie down.

8-)

In all honesty would you trust Cameron to do anything which he doesn't think is in his own interest, ie. would you trust his "words"!

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 09:45 - 45940 of 81564

GF,

I think the Scottish result will help the Labour party in the GE, but this cartoon says a lot.

I wonder what Brown was really thinking!

The 'English question' answered: Scottish MPs to be barred from voting on English laws

Scottish MPs will be prevented from voting on issues only affecting England as part of the post-Scottish referendum reforms, David Cameron announces

Scottish independence: referendum results - live »

David Cameron has announced that he will fast-track proposals to prevent Scottish MPs voting on English-only issues in the wake of the independence referendum.

The Prime Minister said that he will provide a “decisive answer” to the so-called “West Lothian Question” by the time of the next election.

However, Douglas Alexander, a shadow Labour minister, immediately hit out at the plans.

Labour has 40 Scottish MPs and any move to prevent them voting in Parliament on a series of devolved issues would severely impact the party’s ability to block or pass laws in future.

Mr Cameron also suggested that similar proposals would in future apply to Welsh and Northern Irish MPs.
