THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

There is something about the UK political scene which remind me of the bodies on stage after a dissolute Shakespearean play.

-------

The devolvement of power to the regions simply provides an extra layer of bureaucracy and jobs for the boys.

Increasing the fragmentation of the UK and increases will be needed to fund the lunacy.

It leads to the development of thiefdoms.

======

Representation of various groups or areas is important, but smashing up the overall unity of the UK does not seem to be it for me.

It is another attempt at dividing, conquering and ruling.

I liked the headline, "Smoked Salmond quits*"

cynic - 19 Sep 2014 18:47 - 45987 of 81564

an attempt by whom?
you do love these nonsense conspiracies or making up some other silly scenario of skullduggery

MaxK - 19 Sep 2014 18:50 - 45988 of 81564

The sprouts!

Manuel,

Are you hoping for a job?

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 20:09 - 45991 of 81564

Haze,

If you believe that you are a bigger fool than I thought you were!

MaxK - 19 Sep 2014 20:57 - 45992 of 81564

Yes, he wont go quietly into the night.

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 22:00 - 45993 of 81564

He is a very shrewd cookie.

Wait for the Return of Alec.

What interests me is the effect of the "yes" group on the labour vote at the G/E.

---------

If you haven't already listen to Any Questions to-night it was well worth the listen.

One of the more sensible summaries of the present "political" situation.

Even Charles Clarke and Ken Clarke were often talking senses. Made the present government look like school boys.

Mind Manuel would be happy to carry the latter's bags.

cynic - 19 Sep 2014 22:06 - 45994 of 81564

as i'm up in london for the w/e for Beloved's 60th b'day bash, i have little idea what you're talking about

however, i also wonder what impact snp (i guess) will have on the labour vote in scotland

Fred1new - 19 Sep 2014 22:29 - 45995 of 81564

Be careful.

With a young wife you don't know what might happen to you!

Haystack - 19 Sep 2014 22:54 - 45996 of 81564

Today is being renamed in Scotland. It is now

'Scottish dependence day'

MaxK - 19 Sep 2014 23:42 - 45997 of 81564

'Scottish dependence day'

A Tory Party Production...with added tinsel by the Lib/Dims

Director: one time (only) prime minister Cameroon and trusty sidekick Hop along Clegg.

Side show by Millibandus and other clowns.

Result = disaster

All's well with the world.

Haystack - 20 Sep 2014 08:57 - 45998 of 81564

The 'Scottish play' will be a GE boost for Cameron. He has said that he wants increased powers for Scotland to be matched by the same new powers for an English only assembly and all to be done in the same timetable. The same applies to Wales and NI. This removes 41 Scottish Labour and 11 Liberal and 6 SNP MPs plus those for Wales (mainly Labour) and NI. As you might expect Milibland is not happy. His reply is that there should be 'discussions'.

This adds up to another unique selling point for the Conservatives. Not only has he promised a referendum on the EU, but he can offer the English, Scottish, Welsh and NI electorate further powers within their countries while excluding MPs from other areas. A vote for Labour will just get a discussion and no change.

All that adds up to a Labour dominated Wales and an England and NI dominated by Conservatives. All our key legislation and tax powers will be decided by Conservative governments. It is a move towards a federal UK, which is a long term policy of the Libs. Each region will be self governing similar to US states and an umbrella federal government tying it all together.

The timetable for all this is considerable due to constitutional changes, so Scotland has been stitched up and can expect new powers no time soon.

cynic
Did you go anywhere nice for the birthday celebs?

I had an odd email yesterday from a source unknown to me. It was an offer of work. I only work occasionally these days although I have been considering increasing that due to boredom at times. The offer was to work for a wine distributor. I don't know the details yet as the email came quite late. I know it is in London, but not what is involved. It has me intrigued as I like the wine trade.

Fred surely the Lib/Dems will vote with labour and stop the crook Camoron getting away with Hays infered tory England.
