THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Germany and France have similar views to Switzerland. Germans are fed up with Turkish 'guest workers' as they call them.

cynic - 13 Oct 2014 12:20 - 47420 of 81564

turkish gastarbeiter in germany have been unwelcome for a great many years
however, they are the only ones who are prepared to do the menial jobs like picking the asparagus when in season

does that ring any bells for uk?

MaxK - 13 Oct 2014 12:25 - 47421 of 81564

Do the germans provide them with free housing, medical, education, benefits etc?

TANKER - 13 Oct 2014 12:29 - 47422 of 81564

answer no they have to have answer to why they are in gremany and why they came if they can not support tem selves

TANKER - 13 Oct 2014 12:30 - 47423 of 81564

spain you will get no help only to leave the country
Poland gives no help to any none polish

cynic - 13 Oct 2014 12:30 - 47424 of 81564

ask the local farming community :-)

certainly the gastarbeiter refused to pay tax and nhic, so when the german gov't tried to clamp down on this a year or so back, they simply refused to come in ..... the result was that much of the crop just went to waste
i don't know what happened this year

Fred1new - 13 Oct 2014 12:31 - 47425 of 81564

Manuel.

I apologise for post the C+P about the NHS.

I must admit it came from one of the most left wing portion of the UK press.

"The Times"!

Strange how far an old reactionary as yourself has moved!

UK government to sell Eurostar stake before general election

Osborne says he is looking for bids by end of month and hopes sale of 40% stake in Channel tunnel train firm raises £300m

Larry Elliott, economics editor

The Guardian, Monday 13 October 2014

Eurostar has carried more than 145 million passengers since its services began in 1994. It made a profit of £18.6m in 2013, of which the Treasury received £7.4m.

George Osborne is to announce on Monday that the government is selling its 40% stake in Eurostar before the election.

The chancellor will say he is looking for bids by the end of the month and is hopeful the privatisation of the Channel tunnel train operator will raise up to £300m.

Do angry Ukip voters threaten Tory future?
by Peter Kellner in Commentary, Front Page and Politics
Mon October 13, 2014 10:51 a.m. BST

David Cameron has six months in which to stop Ukip’s bandwagon. If he fails, the Conservatives risk not only losing next year’s general election but suffering lasting damage. YouGov’s latest Sunday Times survey demonstrates both the opportunities and the dangers that confront the Tories following last week’s by-elections. For the ...

It would just cause more people to visit drop in clinics, A&E and call 999 if there was a charge to visit GP's..

goldfinger - 13 Oct 2014 13:11 - 47433 of 81564

Hi Shortie...STOP ARGUING............................................LOL.

I bet they then charge for these services!!!!!!

Shortie - 13 Oct 2014 13:11 - 47434 of 81564

I'd be surprised if Cameron even recognised a threat from UKIP considering his approach to Scotland's Independence..

goldfinger - 13 Oct 2014 13:13 - 47435 of 81564

Opinium have topline figures of CON 28%(-4), LAB 35%(+1), LDEM 9%(+2), UKIP 17%(n/c). YouGov have topline figures of CON 32%, LAB 34%, LDEM 9%, UKIP 16%. Lord Ashcroft didn’t put voting intention figures in the headline results but they were asked and are in the tables themselves, results were CON 31%, LAB 34%, LDEM 8%, UKIP 18% – note that the poll was conducted online, whereas Ashcroft’s regular VI polls are done by phone.

cynic - 13 Oct 2014 13:14 - 47436 of 81564

i like the old chinese system whereby you paid your doctor only when you were well
there's a certain logic to that!

goldfinger - 13 Oct 2014 13:14 - 47437 of 81564

Good point Shortie. Spot on the money.

Fred1new - 13 Oct 2014 13:31 - 47438 of 81564

Manuel.

You do talk or walk on a lot of ---- so no wonder you skate.

=======

A thought about the SELL OFF OF EUROSTAR and being rule by the EU.

Much of the infrastructure of the railways etc. and other large previously owned UK "companies" are already owned by EU companies..

We won't need to be members of the EU. The country will be run by BLOODY FOREIGNERS.

I suggest we put the Arm forces and the Government (or at least the tory party) out for tender.

Wonder where TAX will be paid?

(Forgot the tory party is already finance from outside the UK.)

==============

GF,

Like those figures

Opinium have topline figures of CON 28%(-4), LAB 35%(+1), LDEM 9%(+2), UKIP 17%(n/c).

But the UKIP 18% will make Hays and Manuel dance together with delight.

(Will the coalition last for 6 months. It is obviously not fit for purpose, but I would expect Labour would prefer the Cons to implode further and make the next election easier for themselves.)
