Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Another duster on the way for DES, I think.

Said the man who shorted RKH

Bought a chunk at 1.38p

You've caught a diving knife.....thought this might happen....

ptholden - 13 Oct 2010 16:49 - 4831 of 6492

I take it no-one knows why the sudden sell off?

Perhaps another RKH type unfounded rumour, which will see a RNS from DES denying such, a quick recovery in the SP, burning a few shorters and the inevitable longer term holders stopped out on a spike?

Or they've missed again?

No position here, watching with interest.

required field - 13 Oct 2010 16:53 - 4832 of 6492

This is a massive risk.....I would only do it for short term gain.

cynic - 13 Oct 2010 16:54 - 4833 of 6492

it's the fear (reality?) factor setting in ..... RKH have owned up to problems in making an accurate assessment of Sealion's potential, albeit that it's still commercial at 170 mbbl, and this reflects in the greater probability (chance) of Rachel coming up blank

halifax - 13 Oct 2010 16:57 - 4834 of 6492

cynic proven recoverable reserves mean something tangible, guesstimates are meaningless.

cynic - 13 Oct 2010 16:59 - 4835 of 6492

many thanks for the correction, though i thought 170m was based on rather more than just a finger in the air

yuff - 13 Oct 2010 17:00 - 4836 of 6492

Put your money in to AMER now-onshore drilling with a massive drill programme planned.
Take your profits and be safe.

Just too risky for me all this offshore drilling. I cant see this or RKH getting oil out for at least 3 years.

ptholden - 13 Oct 2010 17:01 - 4837 of 6492

Ah, just caught up with the RKH thread, hadn't realised they had downgraded Sea Lion, so I guess (as Cynic comments) fear is taking a grip, albeit seemingly delayed fear!

Also had to wade through a load of nonsense posts from that dopey twat MRSI who seems to have trashed the RKH thread all on his own (not for the first time).

cynic - 13 Oct 2010 17:04 - 4838 of 6492

yuff - MATD looks like a blue chip relative to AMER!

halifax - 13 Oct 2010 17:05 - 4839 of 6492

cynic you have hit the nail on the head is that number a fact or is it merely a guesstimate? Today RKH reduced the figure by 30% on what basis, why not 50/60/70..... anybody can think of a number at this stage.

markymar - 13 Oct 2010 17:16 - 4840 of 6492

700 million barrels and up to 8 fans not 4

cynic - 13 Oct 2010 17:22 - 4841 of 6492

hali - see RKH thread

mitzy - 13 Oct 2010 17:35 - 4842 of 6492

Back to 100p again I think.

chav - 13 Oct 2010 21:49 - 4843 of 6492

I cannot see how today's RKH RNS can change the chances of Rachel coming up with Oil!!!!!!

Sealion is still a commerical sized discovery at 170mmbbls and the downgrade is only on a technicality...come the appraisal Wells, come the true size!...170mmbbls is still the original pre drill estimate.

markymar - 13 Oct 2010 22:12 - 4844 of 6492

I bought a few more today Chav in DES and RKH, we must meet up so i can give you your wooly hat and gloves, things still looking good.

chav - 13 Oct 2010 22:23 - 4845 of 6492

Marky....having sold some DES, are you not going to fall foul of the 30 day rule by re buying this Afternoon?

markymar - 13 Oct 2010 22:51 - 4846 of 6492

Chav ......do i care about the 30 day rule!!! you can bend it, Also my good lady holds a few chuncks and so was fun selling yesterday and buying today....am still down big time today, even though all the money has gone.....some clogs are still here

I am a happy chappy at moment all is going well at the mine so far,Guns was blazing after RKH meeting so bought a few clogs with nails in as they wont move and only get better V good clogs he thinks.
