I thgt. a tick up soon might be appropriate with the reasonable numbers buy/sell, (and the attack on the FTSE to raise 5000,) seems not.
Stop loss @25p

just been reading evo's update and they point out a problem none of us predicted, that is, other supermarkets. it seems the success of the greenseal trials with asda has created a bit of a stir and they all want a bit , but asda have an exclusivity deal. packers like youngs supply all supermarkets.that would explain the low initial orders as , and i am guessing here, they would only be packing for asda. (evo are saying a further 12 machines will be retro-fitted soon). the packaging companies, understandably, seem reluctant to upset the other supermarkets they pack for. so, although, signing an exclusivity deal with asda has many positives, not least getting the first uk commercial deal for greenseal , it has its negatives as it has put the packaging companies between a rock and a hard place. however much they like greenseal, they can only use it for asda products. it will be interesting to see if the other supermarkets wait patiently until next may or if they make this transition to greenseal as difficult as they can , negating any lead asda have. i don't know what seo think about all this but, hopefully they wont go "exclusive" in usa.

Hi Bos, interesting point ..
Do you think Youngs would really be reluctant incase they upset their other clients though? Do you think they would be regarded that way? IMO They aren't going to withold progress of one client at any level because their other clients don't have the same competitive edge. And I can't see the other supermarkets cutting down their business with Youngs to spite them. Just can't see that happening in the real world. The Supermarkets will have different areas where they are strong compared to their competition and although the competition is intense other Supermarkets will need to maintain a healthy relationship with their packaging companies, works both ways.

would have thought that the other supermarkets will simply start crunching numbers and analysing their own potential cost reductions and increased sales due to Greenseal, from perhaps the start of May2006 (when ASDA exclusivity ends)......
you are right though - they may try to stagnate ASDA's lead; as i am sure that an increase in ASDA's sales is potentially a decrease in another supermarkets sales.....
(although it will actually be easier for the other supermarkets to have Greenseal implemented; as they will, by then, be using a proven technology, without the need of going thru all of the trials etcetc......ASDA's lead will have cost reductions and improved sales that will amount to less than a year, because only one machine is being changed for the moment, and the second trial is still on the go....)
either way - am waiting for the explosion; come spring/summer of 2006 !!!!

If the exclusivity deal with Asda begins to look like a blocker to introducing the technology faster in the UK, it should be possible for SEO to negotiate a change in that deal to reflect new circumstances. I was told that the exclusivity was agreed because SEO did't think they could handle the extra conversions in the first year if there was a more widespread roll out. Maybe if the out sourced approach planned for the US works well that could be used elsewhere including in the UK.

Hi All,
I did notice that Mondini's claim to fame is Ready Meal packaging, so maybe the first machine didn't go to Young's Bluecrest after all. Could be one of those listed on this page though, and IB said they were 'substantial', so Northern foods maybe, that would get the other retailers going if they found out !
http://www.readymealsinfo.com/webpages/planetflowline/
My other option for machine number one, based on Mondini being more 'Ready Meals' than fresh fish, is Ferndale Foods.
"The technology, currently being tested on an Asda pasta and chicken microwaveable ready meal from Ferndale Foods"

Infoseeker Hi,
I hope that brings out the anti-ek brigade :)
Anyway I sent him the facts last night, via UK- Analyst, as per the e-mail below, with all evo, KBC, RHPS and trendwatch notes, and the lemminginvestor bits that Scrutable posted on the BB's !!!!
If he has any sense he will switch to long very quickly !
Cheers,

Hi,
I notice Simon is now short of SEO(again?), and I am here to correct
him on his sums :)
----------------------------------------------------
The Evil Knievil Diaries
I am paying rather more attention to Stanelco (SEO) where I am short.
It has today signed its first deal with a manufacturer of packaging
for Asda. What I am not sure about is the numbers. How much does Asda
pay its manufacturer per tray? 1p? 2p? I don't know. And what would
the Stanelco royalty be? 10% of that 1p. Well Stanelco is, at 27.25p,
valued at 248 million. To justify that sort of value I'd be hoping
for pre-tax profits of perhaps 35 million within three or four years.
On my rather crude sums that would need it to be picking up 20-35
billion royalty payments a year. It all seems a touch generous to me
but perhaps my numbers are wrong?
-----------------------------------------------------
Ok, here we go ....
Stanelco revenue has nothing to do with the cost of trays.
Revenue is based on 45,000 fitting charge per machine, and 30,000
per machine on a recurring annual IP licence. They will get this,
because the product is hugely better than the existing heat sealing,
and the savings are circa 100,000 P.A for each machine. The profit is
estimated(EVO) at 5,000 from the fitting, and 90-95% of the licence
revenue.
ASDA have said they will convert 'several hundred machines' in the first year.
ASDA suppliers are only converting dedicated ASDA machines, a small
fraction of the total available in the UK.
Howard White hopes to convert 25,000 machines in 3 years.
Wal-Mart need around 10,000 machines to cover their throughput, and
they are currently target number one for Stanelco.
When ASDA exclusivity runs out, the rollout will really move into top
gear, with a queue of retailers (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, M&S,
Etc Etc) all wanting Stanelco's RF fitted ASAP. Plus all the existing
ASDA suppliers will want to convert their non-ASDA lines, plus all
<> other suppliers wanting to supply the major retailers, will need RF to
compete.
Well before that Stanelco will rollout RF in the USA, then northern
Europe, and elsewhere. I recieved an e-mail today, from a visitor to
my website, and this was an Australian meat packing company that is
interested in Greenseal !!!!
My website http://www.stanelco.devisland.net
More info follows and is attached ....
Kind regards
Paul. (the under appreciated Stanelco guru !)

And EK diaries later yesterday ....
from EK - just posted on t1ps board.
"I have closed my shorts in IP2IPO (IPO) and in Stanelco (SEO) as housekeeping measures. I received a lengthy set of notes from the fine establishment that is Evolution Securities on Stanelco and I can concede that there might just be a bull case although I still regard the valuation as fanciful. The truth is that I have traded Stanelco half a dozen times, up and down, and made money each time. Given that I do not really understand how the valuation stacks up I think this just goes to show that I am rather clever. Or perhaps, as the diarist suggests, just lucky. So it is perhaps better to retire to the touchlines"
