THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

GF,

I thought the same.

He is playing a straight hand.

And why should he be more specific about future policies to the big boys, who would immediately claim them as their own.

Cameron doesn't know whether to sway to the left or right.

MaxK - 14 Nov 2014 15:34 - 50238 of 81564

Form a pensioners union Tanker.

The politicians would be lining up to kiss your ass.

doodlebug4 - 14 Nov 2014 15:35 - 50239 of 81564

Wishing they were living in Scotland probably, Tanker.

TANKER - 14 Nov 2014 15:35 - 50240 of 81564

alex salmond it was a joke a insane man

doodlebug4 - 14 Nov 2014 15:40 - 50241 of 81564

Salmond also claimed a rather large expenses bill when he visited the USA for a Ryder Cup match, plus something in the region of £240 for each pair of his tartan troosers!

scotland has plenty of space and much cheaper housing except in that bleak granite city which is unbelievably expensive

Haystack - 14 Nov 2014 15:50 - 50243 of 81564

Some of it is stopping paying for bedrooms that people don't need. We have been paying housing benefit for people to have accomodation that is too big for far too long.

Don't forget that it was Labour that introduced the bedroom payment cut for private tenants. The coalition just extended it to council tenants.

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 15:55 - 50244 of 81564

"The coalition just extended it to council tenants."

ohhhh dear the Nasty Party and its supporters.

cynic - 14 Nov 2014 15:57 - 50245 of 81564

well kick out all those immigrants and their extended families and we'll have lots of cheaper housing :-)

Haystack - 14 Nov 2014 16:02 - 50246 of 81564

cynic
Stop baiting the loonies. They won't sleep tonight.

cynic - 14 Nov 2014 16:09 - 50247 of 81564

the young family on benefits to whom i rent a house certainly don't get spoiled
i think they get £700 pm + something like 75% of council tax
the girl works (part-time i think) and the chap is desperately trying to get a job of some kind
unfortunately, he completely screwed up at school and is thus semi illiterate and innumerate

however, to give the system its due, they insisted that he goes to classes daily to bring him up to a reasonable level and i also think a basic computing course

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 16:09 - 50248 of 81564

Very rare around these parts that immigrants live in council properties.

Usually have their own property or are renting from an immigrant landlord. Loads of Pakistani Landlords in West Yorkshire.

cynic - 14 Nov 2014 16:10 - 50249 of 81564

the bradford effect!

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 16:11 - 50250 of 81564

"however, to give the system its due, they insisted that he goes to classes daily to bring him up to a reasonable level and i also think a basic computing course".....ends

hes parked on Benefits then and the training company is making a fortune out of the tax payer.

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 16:12 - 50251 of 81564

Yep summat like that Cyners.

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 16:16 - 50252 of 81564

Shitty day on the markets, suppose I cant complain got out of opay early on at a much reduced profit and got a large slug of AGK which is outperforming so cant really complain.

Just hope christmas rally hasnt come and gone.

cynic - 14 Nov 2014 16:17 - 50253 of 81564

no idea who operates the training system (nearly said class system!), but i think it's primarily aimed at non-english-speaking immigrants

mind you, it's terrifying how many people of all ages really cannot read and write .... and as for basic arithemetic!

======

anyway, this young chap is hoping to hear from G4S that he's got a job as a meter reader (better than nowt)
interestingly, he has to be self-employed
i don't think i need comment further on that aspect do i!

goldfinger - 14 Nov 2014 16:18 - 50254 of 81564

Cyners are your tenants immigrants then?

cynic - 14 Nov 2014 16:19 - 50255 of 81564

no .... very english
could even be described as good aryan stock :-)
