How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

No, got kicked out of bed for snoring.

Was at the Yum Yum in the Printworks tonight and I always snore after a belly full. LOL.

Thats a shocking decision - comfortably missing leg stump - prob is that brings Freddie to the crease so may now stay up till hes out - would be so bad if my plumber wasnt turning up at 7.30 tomorrow morning

Harlosh - 17 Oct 2005 03:03 - 5190 of 10502

You remind me of him!!!!

Harlosh - 17 Oct 2005 03:03 - 5191 of 10502

Especially the way he was after they won the Ashes. LOL

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 03:07 - 5192 of 10502

John

my dad says the same thing!!! and he uses many examples with regards to the celebrations lol

Harlosh - 17 Oct 2005 03:12 - 5193 of 10502

Keep promising to nip over and see your new place. I'll manage one day.

You could take me out for lunch!!!!!!!

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 03:17 - 5194 of 10502

Welcome any time - the pubs a leisurely 2 minute stroll away!!!

This is a rarity for me but I actually think the 1.05 available on the Aussies is tremendous value. After these 2 there is only Boucher and then 3 rabbits to come - and its only a matter of time before Freddie takes the 2 spinners on. Tempted to lump on but not sure i can stay awake

Harlosh - 17 Oct 2005 03:22 - 5195 of 10502

Well I'm off to bed for definate.

Fancy a night out when Bak returns from holiday Steve?

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 03:27 - 5196 of 10502

Sounds good - let me know but pop over for lunch before hand

dont keep the mrs awake with your snoring!!!

Scripophilist - 17 Oct 2005 14:40 - 5197 of 10502

Good trading conditions on the horses today.

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 14:55 - 5198 of 10502

Cracking start to the day for me - they knew that Glacial Delight couldnt win - some big lumps desperate to lay it before the off!!!

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 17:21 - 5199 of 10502

Anyone trading the horses betfair have screwed up settling the 4.30 so if your account balance looks wrong it is likely to be because of this. They were thrown by a late withdrawal and paid out on it as a loser rather than voiding as a non-runner, then when trying to correct have cancelled all settlements on the race.

There is a service announcement saying they are looking into it and will settle correctly asap

Scripophilist - 17 Oct 2005 17:43 - 5200 of 10502

They must have been the only ones not to spot it! It turned 0.99 to -1.67 for me so no sleep lost over that! It was a large outsider anyhow I think.

An excellent day for me, obviously just one of those good days that comes along in a while. Looking forward to the inevitable bad day tomorrow.

ptholden - 17 Oct 2005 17:50 - 5201 of 10502

Back into profit on the nags, although a phonecall during the last race, put me off my concentration and somewhat spoiled what was a reasonable day. Knew I shouldn't have answered it!

Scripophilist - 17 Oct 2005 18:02 - 5202 of 10502

I never answer the phone during the horse racing, done it too many times and regretted it nearly every time.

The biggest problems for me are the kids and the wife. I tried to convince her to trade for me to help her understand what I was doing but she just can't see it. Her lack of interest is actually quite impressive and something I can clearly see in our relationship with close friends.

They can't believe I can make a regular income from 'gambling' on horses so they think is really a front for a porn empire. LOL!

I just keep quiet now and get on with it and scowl at any body that comes near my office between 2-5pm each afternoon.

ptholden - 17 Oct 2005 18:48 - 5203 of 10502

Bloody hell Scrip, i thought you were running a porn empire! You mean you're not?
:-)

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 19:44 - 5204 of 10502

Mega Bucks - 17 Oct 2005 19:47 - 5205 of 10502

What are peoples opinion on a company called Betonmarkets.co.uk and and is it worth opening a account with them ????

Many thanks

Mega...

Fundamentalist - 17 Oct 2005 19:51 - 5206 of 10502

Scripophilist - 17 Oct 2005 19:54 - 5207 of 10502

"my dad came up at the weekend and i convinced him to sit with me at the machine until he realised that what i was doing was trading not gambling!!! "

My dad can make a wicked dove tailed joint but put him in front of a computer and he finds another use for a hammer.

I've tried to explain to him the concept but all he does is drone on about how he came up with this marvellous double your stake after every loss system in the 1960's. I give up!
