THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Max - i confess i see little difference between zero hour contracts and forced self-employment ..... i thoroughly agree that far too often, these terms of employment are just an excuse for companies to treat their casual workforce very badly in all sorts of ways - ie no holiday or sick pay or employer's NIC contributions etc

however, when applied fairly, these contracts have good reason and purpose, such as allowing companies to meet seasonal demand and on the other side, giving part time employment to those whom it may suit well

Hays - does that mean that there's a chance that the general population are at last speaking up against the perpetual abuse of their palestinian neighbours? .... i do hope so, as that was how the conflict in ireland eventually came to an end

You will have to look yourself."

No I won't, if you have confidence in you own claim then you will get the evidence, I look forward to reading it.

More NHS cuts means deaf people will only get one hearing aid instead of two

By Andrew Gregory

Patients in Devon who suffer with impaired hearing will only be given one hearing aid after a local NHS group said a second one wasn't cost effective

cynic - 05 Dec 2014 08:30 - 52206 of 81564

being deaf to one's wife is an invaluable aid and free of charge

MaxK - 05 Dec 2014 08:36 - 52207 of 81564

Copping a deaf un isnt quite what they meant.

MaxK - 05 Dec 2014 08:39 - 52208 of 81564

But what next for the cutters?

You don't need two eye's, one is enough?

cynic - 05 Dec 2014 08:40 - 52209 of 81564

it is if the second deaf aid meant that one heard only demands for more housekeeping or general spendies - definitely not cost effective!

Q T last night

Shock of the night

Shirley Williams defense of Gordon Brown , she was very good last night up till then. the other woman gave a fantastic assessment of what a compleat disaster Gordon Brown was has Chancellor and PM.

Yvette Cooper's rose-tinted Labour's mantra on mass immigration is not the same as the working class see on the streets , its only seen in the cosy North London Labour elite enclave

Just in case you like watching one of these....

Here's the Master in action with his 13th "Tournament '147'" and achieved last night in the UK Championships against Matthew Selt. Oh, and he can do this kind of stuff either handed too.

"More NHS cuts means deaf people will only get one hearing aid instead of two"

More unnecessary 3rd world cuts in a rich Country alert Max.

I feel Yvette is maturing nicely.

Pity some on this thread don't.

It's a very strange decision Stan.

They can piss money up the wall on all manner of useless paper chasing "internal markets" and the staff to run them, yet they go after stuff that cant be got around.

A bit like telling people with vision problems to wear a monacle, or amputee's to hop a bit quicker.

Truly mad imo.

Haystack - 05 Dec 2014 09:47 - 52219 of 81564

Zero hours contracts have been around for years and you won't stop them. There are plenty of people who like them because of the flexibility to do hours that suit them because of being a carer or collecting children etc. It is the abuse of zero hours contracts that is the problem.

There have always been casual work patterns.

The zero hours contracts are useful at present when the economy is improving from a poor state. It enables companies to expand or even survive without the commitments of permanent staff. As employment becomes fuller with an improved economy, there will be competition for staff. At that point the balance will shift and companies will have to offer permanent employment to attract people.

Having a zero hours contract job is at least a job.
