I saw my doctor today.

He told me that I am still in the same imperfect order I was 40 years ago and have arranged to meet up after Xmas for a dinner.

(If we can find the right food bank.)

I hope he means I have a little more time left than I expected.

Takes 22 days now to see my GP, what a state of affairs.

Ring him and get your wife to tell him you that you have just died and you need a death certificate and cremation form sign.

i doubt we ever have to wait more than a week here, unless you want/need to see a specific doctor, in which case, perhaps it's a little longer

Have to say that my GP is bloody brilliant, best one I've ever had... Not sure where he's originally from mind but he makes me laugh, holds his hands up and says lets try something different and talks sense...

And if all else fails I do have BUPA..

I had a Prostate Arterial Embolisation procedure done in May 2012.

In this, the bigger arteries supplying my prostate gland were blocked with 'PVA Granules' using a delivery catheter accessed through a femoral artery. All being pretty much like the catheter radiology technique used for ballooning out blocked coronary arteries.

This embolisation procedure starves the prostate gland of nutrients and so it begins to shrink in size. Mine was originally a bit of a whopper at circa 150ccs in size (blush...). Not long after this, it had shrunk by about 40%. The shrinking means less restriction around the urethra and a relief from lots of the symptoms and an improvement in urinary and other performance.

Ordinarily, the prostate gland is about as big as a large walnut and is wrapped around the urethra between the bladder and the penis. The smoothness (or other) of the surface of the gland can be felt by the doctor 'using a finger up your bum' technique. In case anyone is interested, this is truly horrid whilst the finger is going in but feels utterly fantastic whilst the finger is coming out. ;-)

A large prostate gland size is constricting and restricts urine flow; it often creates retention of urine in the bladder, this then makes you want to pee very frequently to help you deal with these two very trying problems and can really be a bit of a bugger at night when you have to keep getting up to pee frequently. This latter problem is called nocturation. Persistent urine retention can also cause bladder and urethra infections.

If I stay like I am now for the rest of my life, I'll be reasonably happy.

One thing though..... The blood finds other ways of 'getting there'. I do sense, that my prostate gland has possibly started to increase in size again. I do wonder what does the future hold in this regard?

There are alternative methods of treatment. One of them left my father incontinent. 'Get Stuffed' for that one, eh?

My PSA count is now around 6.4. At a peak it got to be as high as 12.5

can't remember what mine is, but it's not so much the actual count as whether or not it is increasing

That could be the kernel of your problems.
