Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

DITCHPIG,

can you elaborate a little please?

Thanks

Ian

There's something strange with the epic UGAS (ETFS Gasoline).

If you do a quote you get the correct price but look at the company name 'EPRA/NAREIT Asia Index' and look at the charts !

Red Underwing - 08 Feb 2007 22:09 - 5416 of 7315

Having recently taken an interest in ETFs & taken a small stake in NGAS for my PEP, I am struck by a number of occasions when the data does not make sense.

Today for instance very few trades are shown (2). Nothing unusual about that.

The prices for those 2 trades are quoted as 2.76/2.7825 & 2.755/2.7725.

The close price is shown on my watch list as 1.78 down 35.91%. However the intra day chart shows it ending on 2.81.

On 25th January it apparently closed at exactly the same price 1.78 USD.

Although the problem above could be a currency problem, I don't see a way that could be influencing what is happening here with NGAS.

These prices are clealy inconsistent & I have seen it before with the same ETF.

What's going on here? Is there a problem with the data feed?

Which is correct the close price or the intra day chart?

If it behaves as before, it will open tomorrow well above the shown close price & almost up to the chart end price!

It may be there is something intrinsically odd about the way these funds are priced, which leads to this sort of problem.

I have seen it to a lesser extent with other ETFs.

It would be good if the chart & close prices, at least, agreed.

Can you throw a little light on this?

Regards

Red

qwento/red,

I will take a look into the points you have raised and get back to you with my findings,

Ian

Ian,

another oddity is that with NGAS on my stockwatch list, I can see the usual flashes & changes that normally indicate trades occuring. However the number of shares shown as traded rarely changes. It is as if the data feed get noticed by some of the s/w, but is missed elsewhere!

Red,

Thanks for the extra info, as soon as I have some feedback I will let you know,

Ian

NGAS I imagine is like OILB.

When there is a change of price in the underlying security then the price of the ETF will change, hence the flash of colour.

The ETF's in general are thinly traded, not so the underlying security. Hence a lot of visible action but few trades.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the Stockwatch screen. Very slow or not at all. All other threads seem OK.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 Feb 2007 09:05 - 5422 of 7315

Bolshi,

I have just done several refereshes on mine and it seems to be working fine. can you try a forced refresh by holding your control key down and pressing the refersh button on your browser?

If that doesn't make any difference, could you try restarting yoru machine?

Let me know how you get on,

Ian

Response time seems very sluggish today - especially when switching into level 2. Taking 30 seconds or so when normally pretty instant ?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 Feb 2007 11:58 - 5424 of 7315

bhunt,

We have a slight issue on one of our apservers at the moment which we are dealing with. Once this is sorted the problem should be resolved.

Ian

bhunt1910 - 13 Feb 2007 12:27 - 5425 of 7315

ok thx

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 Feb 2007 12:30 - 5426 of 7315

bhunt,

The apserver in question is now fine - if you are still experiencing slowness, I would try a restart on your machine as all services are operating normally.

Quento

Thanks for that information. It sounds as though you could be on the right track.

I have made 2 recent i.e. in the last couple of weeks, small purchases on an experimental basis to explore just how ETF trades work.

Neither of these appeared as trades on any trade page I could find. They look useful in PEPs & ISAs to cover situations that shares cannot handle.

Another anomaly with ETFs.

BULL - I get quite a lot of trade data, but I cannot get an intra day chart!
NGAS & UGAS - Little trade data. Good intra day chart apparently!

Red,

I will get James to take a look at this.

The chart for Ambrian AMBR is incorrect!

britshare, we will take a look into it,

This morning I sold 2,437 NGAS @ 1.38 10:35:10

MoneyAM shows only 2 trades this morning for NGAS, both for 2,047 shares!

Of course it could be that someone else sold 2,047 at around the same time, but how likely is that?

Thje trade price quoted is $2.69 (1.378 using an exchange rate of 0.5124) Not significantly different from my price.

Could it be that my trade goes through two intermediaries & both report the trade?

Highly confusing!

Red,

The simple answer to the question is I don not know, but I will try my best to find out,

Ian
