I totally agree soul traders... If you can't take the ups and especially the downs then put your money into an ISA.

(No need to worry at all then, unless conscription is brought back and we all end up fighting somebody elses war in the middle east.)

I'm not aiming for a quick buck. I'm in for the longer term, 5 - 10 years and hopefully be able to take early retirement. If it doesn't happen then I will just have to work 'til I'm 65...

skyhigh - 09 Aug 2006 14:30 - 554 of 1049

Totally agree with both of you. I'm in for the long term also ....it's just grim having to take all the downs at the moments...be nice to get some ups for a change !

georgetrio - 09 Aug 2006 14:47 - 555 of 1049

SKY
LAST TWO WEEKS, THERE WERE A LOT OF SELLINGS, I MEAN SERIOUS SELLINGS, MOSTLY FROM SPECULATORS BUT LONGTERM INVESTORS CAN BE COOL EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT EASY TO SEE RED. I THINK THIS IS A FANTASTIC TIME TO SEARCH FOR JUICY LITTLE FISHES. THE FEAR OF THE INFLATION, THE IMPATIENCE, THE BAD PRESS ALL THESE WILL HELP SMART BARGAIN HUNTERS.
THINGS ALWAYS CHANGE. LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WITH THIS LITTLE FISH CALLED NMI. BIG DIRECTORS DISPOSAL, THEN IRRATIONAL SELLING FROM OTHER INVESTORS AND THE NMI'S SHARE DROPS BIG TIME BUT SMART INVESTORS WENT IN AND NOW THE SP RECOVERED VERY QUICKLY. HEALTHY BUSINESS

Plenty of potentionally very good newsflow in the coming months. When the market settles down and sp rises and we have spare cash we will all be wishing we could buy more at todays current sp... IMO

If I had spare cash I would buy another 100k at todays sp.

soul traders - 09 Aug 2006 15:08 - 557 of 1049

Fair comment Austing - looking cheap at current levels!

PS have a gander at Hardman (HNR). Due a turnaround, IMO.

austing2253 - 09 Aug 2006 15:56 - 558 of 1049

Yes, s price is now lowest for a very long time. I have just a small holding and it is sad to see such a company as HNR performing badly on the market.

skyhigh - 11 Aug 2006 12:56 - 559 of 1049

This is still grim and still continuing it's downward momentum..
I have previously bought in @ 2.2p , 2p, 1.5p and 1.2p it's temting to buy in again at these lower levels but will it go down again ? where is this going to bottom out ?

robertalexander - 11 Aug 2006 12:59 - 560 of 1049

when is the good news coming? i am tempted to top up too but wary as dont know where the SP will bottom out and have too many shares in portfolio that are waiting to go up [they will go up but will take time GOO,SER,CHP et al]

Alex

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 13:05 - 561 of 1049

Alex, I know the feeling - everything still sliding (not that I'm particularly worried). It never hurts to play a waiting game. Everything I have bought recently (RIFT, HNR), even on the back of apparently good news, has only gone up on the day and is now below what I paid for it. The fact that I haven't paid much attention to GOO appears to be one of those curious workings of Murphy's law - I hope I will soon get over my current inertia and actually give it some proper research.

I keep hoping that the end of summer (i.e. beginning of September) will bring some green shoots of recovery. I think one also has to think long-term in the current markets.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 13:12 - 562 of 1049

Regarding today's price slide, hazy memory informs me that this stock is one that tends to dip the day after bad news. It could be just a blip.

robertalexander - 11 Aug 2006 13:13 - 563 of 1049

i agree with the long term strategy.. but with SP's falling in stocks that i am certain[well as anyone can be in this line of work] will go up in the long run the desire to buy more at a cheaper SP and try for the bigger profit is very tempting... of course my faith could be misplaced and i'll lose a lot more but thats the gamble isnt it
Alex

Amir - 11 Aug 2006 13:16 - 564 of 1049

BLR to be producer in 2006 .....???????

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 13:18 - 565 of 1049

Amir, Yes, should be in production by year end if Arce goes to plan.

shadow - 11 Aug 2006 14:17 - 566 of 1049

the price is dropping or bottoming out as they are not prodceing oil only searching for it, 0.05 is on the way and why should't it be

georgetrio - 11 Aug 2006 14:47 - 567 of 1049

robertalexander
THE MARKET SAYS: ONE DOES NOT CATCH A FALLING KNIFE BUT I AGREE THAT IF YOU HAVE DONE YOUR HOMEWORK AND YOUR ARE IN FOR LONGTERM THEN IT IS OK TO TOP UP CHEAP. THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR BLR AND I WILL TOP UP BUT ONLY WHEN THE PRICE SETTLE A BIT BECAUSE THE BALANCE SHEET IS NOT VERY STRONG. BEST LUCK

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:50 - 568 of 1049

Shadow, production is scheduled to begin at Arce in the next few weeks/months.

skyhigh - 14 Aug 2006 08:36 - 569 of 1049

This is getting grimmer by the hour! continuing it's downward path this morning.. something bad must have happened behind the scenes... We desperately need some good news and lots of it !

Rutherford - 14 Aug 2006 09:13 - 570 of 1049

Dont believe anything has happened and that is the problem. A lot of patience needed here!

skyhigh - 14 Aug 2006 09:35 - 571 of 1049

too right!

soul traders - 14 Aug 2006 11:35 - 572 of 1049

Paciencia, amigos. It takes weeks to get first oil out of the ground, not minutes.
