Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

katcenka,

We are working on a tool which will allow us to rebuild any order books should a problem like this arises. We hope to have this available very soon.

Still having problems with FTSE 100 stock charts inside a Terminal. They do not work until 8:15. Same problem with the 'Old Java' intraday charts on the Charts page.

Not impressed with the lack of technical support here.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 23 Mar 2007 08:13 - 5570 of 7315

rich65,

Ian,
As you know I have had problems with my system in the office due to internal controls over what is downloaded and the versions of ie we run here. ie is 5.5
I had the IT guys do a re-image of the pc and everything was put back to their standard and I was able to access Moneyam without problem and I also did not get any of the popups. I was always unable to see the Stockwatch because of the version of Java we have.
Unfortunately the problem has occurred again.
The only screens I use are Traders, Trades and Charts.
When it was all OK I could get into these all without problems and no popups. That was yesterday.
Now I can still get into Traders but the other two make ie crash. I also now get a popup which has an address "http://spe.atdmt.com/ds/0W0W1BRCYSTO/" and ie says that the page cannot be found.
When the system was working OK I didn't get this new screen.
Have you any ideas what the problem could be?
Does Moneyam send any java downloads to allow the programmes to work?
Any assistance would be helpful.
Thanks
TT

TT,

It is very hard for me to tell without looking at your machine, but you are running quite and old system by the sounds of it (which in itself should not be too much of a problem), but it also sounds like you are behind some pretty stringent security set up by your company. The 2 main culprits here may be that some form of ad blocking in the firewall is causing an issue, or the version of Java you have is quite out of date.

I am aware that you are probably not able to do this, but if you can it may be wise to try and upgrade to the latest version of Java, as it does seem that the issue is a java one probably compounded by the high security you are sitting behind.

Ian, thanks.
I spoke with our techie when he "fixed" my PXC and he said he wasn't able to change any of the Java. Policy!!!
Looks like I'm screwed unless I get a wireless laptop.

TT: I don't like to get involved in a "family argument", but your IT Policymakers should realise that later versions of Java exist partly because of security fixes. Therefore, it is a very poor security policy that doesn't take upgrades.

Also, using old IE 5.5 is not a great idea, it's like a swiss cheese in security terms.

Just to cheer you up, I reproduce the following post of 15 Jan 2006 from the "Internet Security and You" thread.

Internet Explorer Sucks

This study is from August [2005], but I missed it. The researchers tracked three browsers (MSIE, Firefox, Opera) in 2004 and counted which days they were "known unsafe." Their definition of "known unsafe": a remotely exploitable security vulnerability had been publicly announced and no patch was yet available.

MSIE was 98% unsafe. There were only 7 days in 2004 without an unpatched publicly disclosed security hole.

Firefox was 15% unsafe. There were 56 days with an unpatched publicly disclosed security hole. 30 of those days were a Mac hole that only affected Mac users. Windows Firefox was 7% unsafe.

Opera was 17% unsafe: 65 days. That number is accidentally a little better than it should be, as two of the unpatched periods happened to overlap.

This underestimates the risk, because it doesn't count vulnerabilities known to the bad guys but not publicly disclosed (and it's foolish to think that such things don't exist). So the "98% unsafe" figure for MSIE is generous, and the situation might be even worse.

Thanks MM but I don't think the policy makers will change. They're IT people and they always know best!!!! ;-))))

Any news on the problems with 5 day charts when viewed in Terminal? UK indices have a fairly funny scale at the bottom, sometimes listing the trading days and sometimes missing them out (which wouldn't be so bad but it affects the vertical lines too of course), but have a look at the INDU 5 day chart under Terminal. The charts at the top of the traders' thread are fine though. Seems to be an issue with trading hours.

Try http://www.moneyam.com/action/nav/terminal?view=324&hide=true as an example.

Kayak,

I will get James to take a look,

Ian

Still have the same problem (see my post of 23/7).

IanT(MoneyAM) - 30 Mar 2007 08:05 - 5582 of 7315

rich,

Apologies, I can only asume that this is related to the problem we had generally a few weeks ago which is now resolved. I will get james to take a look into this.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 30 Mar 2007 08:11 - 5583 of 7315

rich,

I have just taken a look at it and I am seeing todays data for both stocks and UKX in terminal can you tell me what happens when you refresh the screen please?

Ian

rich65 - 30 Mar 2007 13:09 - 5584 of 7315

Ian

From 8:00 to 8:15 I get yesterday's market closing time chart for stocks (except on Mondays when it is blank).
For indices and sector indices it is OK, I get the first 15 minute bar.
This happens in Terminal and also in the Old Java Streaming Charts on the Charts page. Threre is no problem with the Live Intraday Charts on the same page.

Can you tell me the full name/date of the applet so I can check I'm getting the right version.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 30 Mar 2007 13:16 - 5585 of 7315

rich,

We will take a look into this and get back to you,

Ian
