Nice trading Harlosh.
Well, Its a very nice feeling cos I managed to grab just over a ton too. My first 100+ pip trade since starting forex. Could have let it run further as cable ended yesterday 200+ but more than happy to take the profit. Hopefully, there'll be lots more to come in the future.

Haven't visited this thread much for a while. Probably the most underrated on the BB IMO.
Personally never got much chance to investigate the joys of FX. Still, I'm young yet. ;-))

It's all about quality, Big Al. Not quantity.

What's all this about riff-raff - is that why I haven't been able to post ??

Following something of a kicking a few weeks ago, probably due to over confidence and lack of exxperience I decided to take a rest and re-think my strategy. With hindsight it was apparent that I was trying to trade tops and bottoms rather than trading what I could actually see and suffered the consequences. Over the last few days I have reduced my stakes until confidence re-builds and followed the trend. Never really staying in for long, but taking profits and if the trend has continued, re-entered. Obviously, this approach has not netted the really big gains, for instance 200 pips were available yesterday and I managed 90, but overall, I felt more comfortable. Hopefully, I will continue in the same vein next week.
From the link above it would appear that the recent Dollar strength is a blip and going long might be the order of the day. However, will wait and see what happens next week, rather than trying to second guess.

Forex - Major currencies stuck in narrow ranges as US, UK mark public holidays
Hmm - well I've been told off a few times over the last weeks for not posting on here more. The thing is, the idea that anyone pays much attention to my musings in a public forum doesn't sit too well with me. It is so much easier to remind people off the board to stick to their goals, with a little extra persuasion sometimes.
As far as cable is concerned over the last few weeks, as it scaled through 1.86 - and a few foiled shorts thereafter, I finally succumbed to the notion that 1.9 was the big number. Didn't have much time to pay a lot of attention to trading in the last days before I went away, so I just left a sell order in at 1.9. There's a lot to be said for not watching the screen - I never would have got it that Friday otherwise - but anyway I added 10 points lower on the Sunday night. By Tuesday morning, I could've closed 200+ points lower but instead I left a stop in, arbitrarily at 1.8950. Oh and another sell thingie at 1.9 :) Whilst I did discover during the week I was away that I must've been stopped out, it never occurred to me that my order might have kicked in - so that was nice. Was busy catching up at work for 3 days last week and finally closed on Friday afternoon - bit of a support thingie going on just above 1.85 from earlier this month. Still playing it short today - nice and easy actually, coupled with a USD/JPY long.
I thought I might find the time to reflect on improving my trading methodology whilst I was away - but I didn't :)
Meanwhile, however, I have been considering the feasibility - if there is sufficient interest - of perhaps organising a small FX traders' day. I'm fairly sure there'd be a few ideas to swap - I for one would be keen to see Harlosh pointing his figures ;)
Just a thought anyway.

Quiet day for me today, did manage to grab a few during the short lived spike up this morning, but closed (too early) and reversed. However, decided to close before going out and missed all of the fall this afternoon. With hindisght should have left a stop and limit in and would have come home to a nice surprise. Nevermind, three profitable trading days on the trot which makes a nice change after recent disasters.
