How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Scrip could you give me any advice on what setup i need if i want to bet while i'm on the move as i have moved out and my computer is stuck at home.
Possibly would like a handheld console of some sort, and what would i need to get connected on the net with it?

Having fun on the snooker tonight - laid MacGuire at 1.02 and 1.03 at 3-0 up, now 3-2 - do i green up or cheer Jimmy White on in the final frame - just a shame i didnt lay at 1.01 as im still to get one beaten lol

Fundamentalist - 10 Nov 2005 22:45 - 5661 of 10502

Woooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

White levels the match at 3-3 :-)

Nice one Steve, Looks like you've done well whether you've greened up or not.

I've not traded at all since Sunday which is unlike me. Anyway, will catch up with you tomorrow.

Fundamentalist - 10 Nov 2005 22:52 - 5663 of 10502

Bak

greened up halfway through the last frame - took the guaranteed profit at 2.1 - still i was only having a bit of fun and made a few hundred quid. Looking forward to tomorrow - any plans for what we are going to do afterwards?

bakko - 10 Nov 2005 22:57 - 5664 of 10502

Drinks are on you then! :-)

How about the usual.....Quick bite and drinks followed by fun at a casino. I'm up for an all nighter this time!

Fundamentalist - 10 Nov 2005 23:12 - 5665 of 10502

Bak

If we have an all nighter im gonna have to go straight into trading the cricket - the first test starts at 4.30am saturday morning :-(.

Happy to go with the flow, see what John and Scrip (and any others fancy) but certainly some food and drink and the casino would be good

Fundamentalist - 10 Nov 2005 23:12 - 5666 of 10502

And yes - will quite happily buy the drinks :-)

bakko - 10 Nov 2005 23:16 - 5667 of 10502

I'll join you on the cricket!

Happy with the provisional plans so will see you tomorrow then.

Fundamentalist - 10 Nov 2005 23:31 - 5668 of 10502

Harlosh - 12 Nov 2005 03:21 - 5669 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 03:47 - 5670 of 10502

John

just had to take the dog for a walk to wake up - here and raring to go - ish!!!!

gonna have a look at the prices now - also noticed the golf is on as well :-)

PS thanks to your wife for the lift home

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 03:50 - 5671 of 10502

Bak - you with us?

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 03:52 - 5672 of 10502

Draw now out to 2.26/2.28. Happy to be a layer though price looks closer to fair value now. Would still expect this price to fall quite quickly if no more than 1 wicket in first hour and am looking to lay at anything less than 2.0

Value appear to be with England rather than Pakistan though will wait for the toss - will be looking to keep the side who win the toss and bat first on side

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 03:59 - 5673 of 10502

Worth keeping an eye on the difference between test match end - Day five evening and the overall draw price

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 04:04 - 5674 of 10502

Pakistan have won the toss and will bat

Fundamentalist - 12 Nov 2005 04:04 - 5675 of 10502

John

you still with us?
