IT is just being the usual board bore, the history has nothing to do with it.
The word soccer has and is now associated with gun nutter land (and all that goes on in that mess of a country) and for that reason is an inappropriate word to describe "Football" which is and has been the correct word...only urgumental bods like some of you lot would disagree.
This is Stan on the flybridge leaving you to discuss it amongst yourselves đ

Good soccer game....I always expect the blues to do well against City. Been the case for years. Irony was that it was Sterling that scored the equaliser, 99 times out of a 100 he will fluff it.

Burnley Reserves scored twice before the break to ease 0-2 into the EFL Cup third round with victory over their Lancashire 3rd Division rivals Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park last night.
Burnley reserves now meet "Dirty" Leeds in the next round at the Fortress.

Ronald Koeman hailed the ingenuity of Gylfi Sigurdsson after the Icelanderâs âincredibleâ 40-yard strike helped Everton secure their place in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.
The Blues, who headed to Hajduk Splitâs Stadion Poljud with a 2-0 lead after the first leg, fell behind on the night when Josip Radosevic struck on the stroke of half-time to halve the deficit.
But, just 13 seconds into the second period, Sigurdsson marked his full Toffees debut with a sensational long-range strike that ensured Koemanâs side progression with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
It was an effort that understandably left manager Koeman purring after the full-time whistle.
"I saw the goal, yes, but I don't think everyone on the bench did!â said Koeman. âIt was just incredible. I don't have any other word for it. You need to be really clever to see that possibility and, even after two or three weeks of the season, maybe it is the goal of the season. It was really important to be level so quickly in the second half.
âI havenât seen him yet as he was doing interviews straight after the final whistle but when I do see him, Iâll tell him it wasnât a bad goal.â
When asked whether or not heâd scored a similar goal during his playing days, Koeman responded: âMy goals were a little bit closer to the box⌠but they were also nice ones!â
