Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

I hope we don't get knocked out on penalties (that's if we qualify !), England need to out to South Africa with modest ambitions...no boasts, the WAGS locked up for a month and the team should go out on the pitch like they want to eat the opposition, (no fouls though)...., Treblewide : Scotland can still make it...must not drop too many points now though......some variations in the style of play is much needed !.

My predictions;
England - We're talking ourselves up into a fall, again!
Scotland - Not a hope
Wales - Significantly less chance than Scotland!
N. Ireland - Significantly less chance than Wales!

Andy we have lost 2 matches by a single goal , one away to Russia the other away to Germany.
In both matches we should have come away with at least a point but the youngsters that make up the majority of the team will have learnt a lot.
England will qualify but will win fcuk all.

andy..why have scotland not a hope? they are sitting second in their group? agreed they have had a patchy start but we are at our bets when our backs are to the walls
typical english arrogance but you are right about england you will blow it again with all your overpaid heart-not-in-it footballers.....they only care about the money

After the abuse that Ashley Cole took by a small section of fans on Saturday, I wouldn't blame him if he stuck two fingers up and walked away from the national team. He's loaded. His wife's loaded. Why does he need grief from a bunch of oiks?
That said, I think Capello's doing a great job. The guy's a winner and his positive mentality is now starting to rub off onto the players.

Well it's probably the honour that you refer to which will motivate him to carry on, Treble.
I'm just saying that I don't think anyone could justifiably blame him if he were to walk away. I'm obviously not in his shoes but, if I were, I'm pretty sure that I'd say, "I don't need this. Bye."

Ashley Cole cheated on the Arsenal Fanswho took him to their hearthe cheated on Arsene Wengerwho showed faith in him and was betrayedin spite of winning two league and three FA Cup winners he illegally approached Chelsea to offer his services and was caught out and found guilty finned 100,000 by the Premier League and he cheated on Cheryl Tweedyhis wife with several women. Apart from that hes wonderful! He was booed by Arsenal supporters that will never forgive him. not England supporters!
By the way I support West Hamwho produced the greatest footballer and gentleman England have ever hadBobby Mooreand no cheating with him!

hils i dont agree the man is a mulit millionaire and paid handsomely for doing what he does, he has a great lifesytle...he made a howler on saturday...are the paying public not allowed to express their opinion of that mistake in case it upsets him?......lot of nonsese..you need to take the rough with the smooth.....
so i would blame him for walking away just because he got a bit of stick for making a mistake.........it is football industrial language and abuse are parts of the game

Of course the fans have got every right to boo whoever they want to boo for whatever reason they want to.
If booing your own players were to serve for the common good of the team, then I think it should be encouraged. Somehow though, I doubt that it did anybody any good whatsoever on Saturday. And, as ChilliBoy says, it was almost certainly a small element of Arsenal fans who did the booing on Saturday. What does that say about the Gooners? They really aren't the brightest bulbs in any box.

I'm not a great fan of him either, ChilliBoy, but he is probably the best left back in the world who also happens to be English and I really don't see the point in booing one of your own players just because you don't happen to like his moral standards.
