Liz Kendall will upset the unions. She is a Blairite. She is in the mold of Brown. There are stories of her throwing mobile phones at people and having temper tantrums and phone rage.

I like Burnham as he looks to be unelectable. The unions back him, although they have threatened to withdraw support if his policies don't oppose all cuts. That is unlikely as all parties have accepted cuts are still needed. Even Miliband admitted as much.

France and Germany are pushing plans to introduce a minimum corporation tax rate across the continent, it was reported today, in a move that could result in higher taxes on British companies.


European officials will debate plans to set a EU-wide floor on corporation tax in order to crack down on tax havens such as Ireland and Luxembourg, it emerged.


The plans are a direct challenge to David Cameron, who is calling for sovereignty to be returned to EU members.


Britain is likely to veto any proposals that see it surrendering power over tax rates to Brussels.


However, campaigners said it showed the scale of the challenge David Cameron faces in renegotiating Britain’s membership.


“It is a direction of travel issue,” said Robert Oxley, of campaign group Business for Britain. “It shows the EU thinks corporation tax is an area of common concern, suggesting there are those at the heart of the Eurozone who want more power over Britain, not less.”

Why did we ever get into this hellhole .

The aim is to centrally control all aspects of tax, interest rates, budgets and laws. The trend is towards federalism with the minimum of control locally.

all the real negotiating will be done behind closed doors, and it is not unreasonable to suppose that much groundwork has already been done

what we shall read and hear in the meantime will be varying degrees of posturing by all sides

You know what happens when you begin to negotiate.

The more i hear about the EU, the more convinced i am that we would do better being out of it. Why can't we control our borders when we have the added advantage of the English channel ?

VOTE OUT !!! they look like they are looking for more powers , and as for Hollande ,every one with any money has left France since he got in .

as is often said, "You can negotiate with a terrorist but not with your wife"

Well, here's me thinking we might well vote to stay in.

However, after reading this latest news I feel like putting a big fat bet down to say we will be voting OUT for sure.

Reading between the lines, I think we should be very wary of this 'Hollande-Merkel' relationship, particularly when it is chaperoned by J C Juncker.
