Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

fred - you are without fail such a predictable tosser, forever pontificating from the sidelines (you refuse to vote, as is your democratic right)
Human Rights Act Repeal Bill down the drain
no it's not ..... the gov't is absolutely right to take its time to draft a much more sensible "uk bill of rights" than that currently thrust upon us along with some loony judgments emanating from europe
this is an exceedingly complex piece of legislation that will quite rightly be widely, deeply and properly debated, and i'm sure will require some amendments regardless of the care taken .... and nothing wrong with that either

That is why it is not in Queen's speech.
Cameron and your rabble couldn't organise a P. up in a brewery.
Promises of to-day, Lies of To-morrow.
Bring back the National People's Party.
That will sort the tossers out!
One-nation conservatism with the various parts being fragmented. (LOL)

Isn't just great that we don't have a Labour government. When Miliband took the loyal oath in the Commons he went to shake hands with the Speaker and knocked over his glass of water and spilt it over himself. Good riddance Mr Bean!

hays - an apparent valid point of fred's though i don't think it actually is ......
do you know why this "new" bill of rights is not in the queen's speech? ...... to the best of my knowledge - ie updated this morning - it's still very much on the agenda

What is going to happen is that the timetable for the Bill will allow longer to consider the details. I guess they have pushed it back slightly due to some opposition from members of the Conservative party. They won't want to deal with any minor rebellions too early in the Parliament.

Will a british bill of rights be worth a toss if the €uro courts have primacy?

That is the point. Our courts will have primacy. The provisions will be virtually the same. We had a convention for human rights as far back as 60 years ago. The Human Rights Act in 1998 made very little changes except to give primacy to the EU court.

Thanks Haystack.
Now all they need to do is sort out the loony fringe on the judicial side.

Several key judges came out a couple of days ago and voiced support for the Bill of Rights.

fred is always angry (his piles must be giving him grief again), always predictable and always incapable of posting a balanced view, so why would you ever expect anything sensible from that quarter?

a major question must be whether or not we can throw out the european human rights act and still remain within eu without a treaty change from that quarter
and no, i do not know the answer, but hays may well do
