RTD - Why? (RTD)

Nitefly - 15 Sep 2003 10:55

Why are we again at 10.5p bid?

It doesn't add up...

Good Results + Strong buying pre results + Christmas online buying soon = Price drop

Then again some companies that have debt for equity hanging in the balance, poor results and bankruptcy around the corner and they go up!

Why sell now at a loss?

Wont that be a kick in the teeth when we see 13.5p 14p again!

Best of luck all.

I'm sick as a parrot!

I sold out & then bought back in BUT while I was away I missed thousands of pounds.

I thought it was going to pause for a while before going through 20p.

I switched into something else & made a trivial profit compared to this.

How wrong I was. I just hope that it keeps going.

Amardev - I spoke to the company last week and they said they were not expecting to make any announcements prior to their results in March

Amardev - I spoke to the company last week and they said they were not expecting to make any announcements prior to their results in March. When you say before the "close period" - do you mean then directors close period - if so this started 1st Jan - the directors bought shares just before entering it!

"...Meanwhile Retail Decisions picked up 2p to 20.5p on talk that the software group could be on the receiving end of a bid."

Interesting?

Nice!
Been an excellent couple of weeks with rises on this stock. Much more to come I feel.
To the long time holders (like myself). Well done. We went through the boring static times and are are being well rewarded now.

Anyone see this....?
"UK's Retail Decisions surges on bid hopes
LONDON, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Shares in Britain's Retail Decisions Plc surged on Tuesday on market speculation that a bid for the card-fraud prevention firm was imminent.

The company declined to comment on whether there was a bid or whether it was in talks.

"We never to react to gossip and rumours. When something is announced it will be announced via the normal channels," a spokesman for Retail Decisions (LSE: RTD.L - news) said. "We have no plans to make an announcement to the exchange."

By 1339 GMT shares in the firm were up 13.4 percent to 23-1/4 pence, having earlier hit a 26-month high of 23-1/2p, valuing the company at 67 million pounds ($121.5 million).

Trading in the stock was heavy at just under 12 million shares, four times the daily average over the last 90 days.

The stock has more than doubled since the company said in November that profits would be higher than the market had expected. "

i got out at 22.80 but will come straight back in in 1 to 2 days time, with the nasdaq down.i suspect a tree shake tomorrow, mms need more stock, the next resistance level at 28p,and perhaps more info into this rumour,as somone else put it sell on rumour buy on fact.

mitch101 - 27 Jan 2004 19:27 - 623 of 2406

I thinkthe term is - "buy on rumour - sell on news" lol

overgrowth - 27 Jan 2004 20:09 - 624 of 2406

Lol! I certainly won't be selling on this rumour (from Terry Mardi on iii):

"I had a chat with my source in the city, the rumour they have is that RTD is in bid talks with an ovearsea's company, with an offer of circ. 75p

Wathch this space, he said the share shoud be around 30p by the end of the week?! "

mitch101 - 27 Jan 2004 20:31 - 625 of 2406

Overgrowth
How reliable is this "source"

apple - 27 Jan 2004 20:31 - 626 of 2406

overgrowth

That makes me more confident that I bought back in but even sicker than 10 parrots that I sold before.

overgrowth - 27 Jan 2004 20:38 - 627 of 2406

mitch - I've no idea it's not my source, though RTD have been getting a lot of exposure in the US recently and some of those guys have deep pockets....

Slightly more sober news from ace trader Robbie Burns (www.frequenttrader.info):

"So - Retail Decisions, what can I say! It's leapt higher and you're probably wondering why I'm not taking profits - it's because it looks like there's some resistance to move higher around 22-23p but once through that, 30p looks likely. I'm staying put!"

apple - a good move buying back in anyway. If RTD get bought out I think we'll be handsomely rewarded. However, if they continue on their own and you have the mettle to ride out the dips then we're looking at serious money in 1-2 years provided there is no serious market catastrophe due to weakening dollar or whatever (breaking the 1 barrier will probably be the hardest).

petralva - 27 Jan 2004 20:51 - 628 of 2406

i take rumours with a pinch of salt, look what happened to that so called us army rumour sod all!

overgrowth - 27 Jan 2004 20:57 - 629 of 2406

RTD was moving up sharply without the rumours anyway - why worry?

B_ASKIN - 27 Jan 2004 21:03 - 630 of 2406

I'm so glad I didn't take any notice of "BANKONE".
I'm showing a profit of 119% at the moment and still intend to hold.

scotinvestor - 27 Jan 2004 21:05 - 631 of 2406

Apple, i've got no sympathy with you. I keep on telling folk on this BB to stay with RTD and not to do with ramping either.

Anyway i think RTD will go to 30p in short term and expect a big rise when results are due out. Remember NSB went up 33% last week and RTD will be better than theres. Even 30% of 30p gives you 40p by march. Still have contracts to announce plus this bid rumour.

Oh joy!!!!!!!!!

Could be towards 1 in 6 months time, lol
