starting this thread, which i hope will be short-lived, to keep the board up to date with latest reports gleaned from the net

I hope that Libya develops a secular state, but to evolve that, without any real present "institutions" and "civic" bodies, will be difficult and out of necessity the country "may" fall back on the religious organisations which it has in order to fill the vacuum.
