THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

"War on all fronts," thunders the headline in the conservative daily newspaper, Magyar Nemzet - a reference to both the battles between desperate refugees and Hungarian riot police, and to Hungary's deepening diplomatic isolation.
Csaba Lukacs, the paper's leader writer, depicts a Hungary under attack from young, stone-throwing Muslim men: "Hungary's border was besieged by those who think they have the basic human right to march across Europe without documents.

(those who think they have the basic human right to march across Europe without documents)
These are not genuine migrants just opportunists .

VICTIM - 18 Sep 2015 09:47 - 63065 of 81564

This is just not going the way you would want , is it . It could get really out of hand ISIL must think it's Xmas ( you know what i mean )

Fred1new - 18 Sep 2015 09:53 - 63066 of 81564

JB,

If they are genuine why are they heading for Germany, why not settle in the first safe haven
-=-=-=-=

Did you settle for the first job you were offered, or did you look around for one which suited you and your family?

Like many, in one way, I was an economic migrant and "got on my bike" and "changed" job and area I worked in, many different times until I found what suited me and I settled. (Opportunistic.)

A lot of the migrants are young and probably hoping for better conditions and more for themselves and their families.

-=-====

One of my daughters works for the "Home Office" and has just come back from meetings and discussions in different places in Europe on the "migrant" problem. As she says, the problems complex, confusing and difficult to resolve. Also, directives from above seem often to try and save the arses of the present Ministers than the problems.

-=-=-=-=-=

Escaping from the EU adds to the difficulties of resolving such problems we now have.

Ducking and snapping from the outside will only produce further problems and rebound on the UK.

jimmy - the hungarian gov't is very nastily right wing ..... i won't bother with the detail, but the link below will tell you enough ....... the memorial in question was erected just a couple of years ago

http://www.euractiv.com/sections/central-europe/controversial-monument-divides-hungarians-angers-jewish-community-303656

cynic - 18 Sep 2015 09:57 - 63068 of 81564

fred - there's a major difference between accepting the first job you are offered, genuine war refugees fleeing for their lives and economic refugees who fancy working the system

by the way, having beaten the drum so loudly, you have still not told us how many refugees you are prepared to accommodate in your own pad

VICTIM - 18 Sep 2015 10:01 - 63069 of 81564

So having a go at MI5 with some satirical cheep crap for trying to protect your Daughter and us , and letting an excessive load of crap in the country is your answer then very complex indeed .

Fred1new - 18 Sep 2015 10:04 - 63070 of 81564

Manuel.

Previous to retiring my house often felt like a hotel for months on end.

After, retiring, we downsized and the present house doesn't seem to have enough room to swing a cat, leave alone provide hospitality for other than family.

A pity, but reality!

VICTIM - 18 Sep 2015 10:07 - 63071 of 81564

Fred the more you say the more I'm now convinced you're a crackpot .

jimmy b - 18 Sep 2015 10:08 - 63072 of 81564

I understand that cynic but they have a right to close their borders ,these people are avoiding being processed properly for good reason

MaxK - 18 Sep 2015 10:20 - 63073 of 81564

Of course, this advice doesent apply to the Cameroons, Geldof's and MP's etc....it's only for the little people.

It's time to sell up your home OAPs told: Anger as financial watchdog tells elderly to downsize to tackle housing shortage

Financial watchdog tells the elderly to downsize to tackle housing shortage

'Ministers should tackle problem of OAPs living in homes too big for them'

Financial Conduct Authority said Britain had real issue with last-time buyer

But senior official's comments were described as 'insulting' and 'unhelpful'

Older homeowners who ‘sit quite happily in a very big house’ should be given more encouragement to sell up and downsize, it was claimed yesterday.

Ministers should look at ways to tackle the problem of retired people living in properties that are too big for them, says a major financial watchdog.

A senior official risked the wrath of millions of mortgage-free pensioners who remain in family homes when she said they may need to be steered towards moving to retirement housing.

Lynda Blackwell, head of mortgages at the Financial Conduct Authority, said Britain had a ‘real issue with the last-time buyer’. But her comments were described as ‘insulting’ and ‘unhelpful’ last night.
