Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

I seem to be getting almost exclusively the temp unavail - L2 and news.

Ian,

Will do. Thank you.

Chea - 27 Sep 2007 08:15 - 6412 of 7315

Ian,

Thanks. That got it!

Is it advisable to always restart the browser as well as the L2 page (had omitted the former)?

Chea

IanT(MoneyAM) - 27 Sep 2007 08:18 - 6413 of 7315

Chea,

yes always best to close both - however, Alex actually also did a restart on the server that was causing the issue, which would have helped as well.

i believe worm/delf.eyr is being sent to my computer from your web site.

please assure me this is not the case. yesterday and today whilst i was on this site AVG picked up the threat.

Kayak - 27 Sep 2007 20:11 - 6416 of 7315

maddoctor, AVG is telling you that your PC is already infected with the virus, it will scan your system periodically to do so. It doesn't mean the virus is on a page you are looking at (unless it specifically tells you about the page of course).

You probably got it some time ago by running a program included as an email attachment or by downloading infected software from the web. In either case you would have had to accept the installation of software at the grey security screen.

There is some information on removal here: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2002-080314-3248-99&tabid=3. The name to remove in the registry keys could be different though - it seems to be a new variant of a virus.

maddoctor - 27 Sep 2007 20:42 - 6417 of 7315

kayak , thanks but the threat warning in both cases happened whilst i was on this site , avg scans automatically every morning for me and i have had no e-mails nor have i downloaded any software.

Jonathan - 28 Sep 2007 08:36 - 6418 of 7315

maddoctor,

what pages were you looking at at the time of the attempted infection?

James(MoneyAM) - 28 Sep 2007 09:40 - 6419 of 7315

maddoctor,

I have installed AVG on my machine and browsed around our site. I do not get any virus warnings.

As Jonathan asks, could you tell us which pages you were viewing when the warnings occurred? Can you recreate the problem by visiting a particular page?

Thanks, James.

maddoctor - 28 Sep 2007 10:26 - 6420 of 7315

sorry , no idea what page (more worried about warning which came from the resident shield which tells me the virus came in as i was on the site and had not been sitting there on the computer, no e-mail at same time, checked).

one of the threads infected?

James(MoneyAM) - 28 Sep 2007 11:03 - 6421 of 7315

maddoctor,

At the moment, it seems more likely to me that it is just a coincidence that you had a MoneyAM page open when you were informed of the virus.

I can assure you we are not actively serving viruses, and no other users have reported the problem at this point.

Grisoft (makers of AVG) suggest that this virus most commonly spreads through local networks, shared disks and peer-to-peer networks. Could you have a look at the following page and see if it is of any help to you?

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/62/us/crp/0/idv/284195

Thanks, James.

maddoctor - 28 Sep 2007 11:07 - 6422 of 7315

puzzle to me this as i am just a lonely computer and share nothing with anybody and since this computer is used for trading i never ever go to dodgy web sites.

James(MoneyAM) - 28 Sep 2007 11:39 - 6423 of 7315

maddoctor,

As Grisoft explain, this virus is most commonly spread through local and peer-to-peer networks, not websites.

If your computer is not connected to any other computers via a local network, then it would seem most likely that you have received this virus through filesharing / peer-to-peer software.

Could you check whether or not you have any of these programs installed on your computer:
Bittorrent
Kazaa
Gnutella
EDonkey
EMule
Soulseek

Unfortunately, in addition to those listed above, there are a lot of other filesharing programs with different names that use the above networks. I do not have a list of them all.

Also, could you check the "Virus Vault" of AVG to see if it has contained the virus.

Finally, when you have time to let it run uninterrupted, could you get the latest AVG updates ("Check for updates"), then reboot and do a full system scan ("Scan Computer")

Thanks, James.

maddoctor - 28 Sep 2007 11:46 - 6424 of 7315

virus in vault

this morning got latest update and full scan shows no threat

where do i look for these programmes? checked the "all programmes" and nothing there

thanks for time.
Doc

also checked add or remove programmes , nothing there

any idea what this virus does?

James(MoneyAM) - 28 Sep 2007 12:09 - 6425 of 7315

maddoctor,

You can find out more about it by googling for "delf worm". It's hard to say specifically what it does as it has several variants which do different things.

At this point, if it's in the Virus Vault then things are looking good.

If you find that navigating to a particular page on our site causes this virus warning to pop up immediately, please let us know.

Thanks, James.

maddoctor - 28 Sep 2007 13:25 - 6426 of 7315

OK doc

Ian, I notice that prices havn't reset for the start of day yet. Does this mean that we are going to experience inaccurate prices again today.
