Thanks for your post #6445, Optimist. Yes I have IE v6, but it's interesting to note that Microsoft have acknowledged a loophole. I normally wait for software to be out for a while until the bugs have been ironed out, but now v7 may be the answer.

Richgit69 - 22 Dec 2007 00:43 - 6448 of 11003

Optimist, yes as soon as Windows boots up, in the background it starts Internet Explorer, so when I start my own IE session it means two or three are running at once but only notice the one I've started and only found the others were running by accident thru Task Manager

Optimist - 22 Dec 2007 01:39 - 6449 of 11003

Harrycat

IE7 has been a lot better than IE6 for well over a year upgrade ASAP.

Richgit

IE should not start with Windows. If you look in the startup tab of msconfig you should be able to find it, look for a refference to Internet Explorer or a file with a .htm or .html extension. If it is not easy to find then I suspect that you have some sort of virus/trojan/adware.

Anybody using Safari on a Mac to view Stockwatch?
Suddenly (I think) I have to deselect "block pop-up windows" in order to view Charts/Trades/News
I am sure this wasn't necessary until recently
Safari should only block pop-up from page loads or exits

Anyone know of some FREE software to rip video and convert to iPod video format

Seymour Clearly - 04 Jan 2008 21:50 - 6452 of 11003

Have a big problem - can't print anything because:

Spooler SubSystem App encountered a problem and needed to close.

I've got the Microsoft solution but some sources are saying it doesn't work. There isn't a new printer installed - just using the existing ones so this suggests some corrupted file. Does anyone know if the MS solution works before I dive into the registry?

Plateman - 04 Jan 2008 22:03 - 6453 of 11003

Can only be of limited help but my son fixed this one for me, he googled the problem (it's not uncommon) and the fix involved copying and renaming the file, then re-creating the original file. If this is the same problem, task manager shows spooler using 90+% of the processor. Sorry it's very sketchy-hope it helps.

tvc15 - 08 Jan 2008 11:58 - 6457 of 11003

how do I find out if I have a 32bit or 64bit on my computer? I am running windows xp home edition, 2002 service pack 2.

Optimist - 08 Jan 2008 12:09 - 6458 of 11003

tvc15

Right click on My Comptuer and select properties - it will be 32bit.

tvc15 - 08 Jan 2008 12:14 - 6459 of 11003

It does not say it is 32bit though. Just the intel pentium thingy.

Optimist - 08 Jan 2008 12:32 - 6460 of 11003

tvc15

Sorry about that I've just checked and you are correct. I'm pretty certain that it would say if it was the 64bit OS. I any case, I don't thinh Microsoft ever released a 64 bit version of XP home and certainly not in 2002.

Why do you need to know?

tvc15 - 08 Jan 2008 12:35 - 6461 of 11003

Want to download virtualdub, 2 versions 64bit and 32bit.

Bolshi - 09 Jan 2008 13:34 - 6462 of 11003

I've just put in an extra ram memory in my spare 3rd slot to bring me up to ,hopefully, 1.5Gb. How do I know if it's working? Where can I look to see what Ram I've got?
I went back to the "Crucial" site (where I bought my additional memory from, and it's still showing slot 3 as empty.

Seymour Clearly - 09 Jan 2008 13:38 - 6463 of 11003

Bolshi,
