THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Talking sensibly....people seem to be worried about how far are the airports....in the future : transport is bound to speed up...it will do...getting to and back catching a plane is going to be easier due to improved rail/road networks....jobs at heathrow :...it will take at least more than a decade or perhaps two to build an estuary airport !....heathrow would carry on until at least one runway was complete....people retire...newcomers employed at heathrow would have to agree that further..much further down the line ; they will be the other side of London....what's the big deal about change here ?...transport is speeding up....

If the concern is really about travel time to and from central londonistan, then it's hard to beat Gatwick, 30 minutes by train. Cheap as chips as well....Less than £20

Circle, District and Victoria lines, plus overland.

It's not badly connected, the city and west end are very easy.

Stan - 20 Dec 2015 19:36 - 66490 of 81564

"I'll vote to leave the EU, says former "Con"artist minister Liam Fox".. Why wait for the vote just P off now, in fact you may well get quite a few offers to assist, can I suggest somewhere nice an quite.. Syria's nice this time of the year I believe.

Fred1new - 20 Dec 2015 20:13 - 66491 of 81564

Manuel.

Major often spoke sense when he was PM.

The problem was that he wasn't from Eton, the Masonic Hall, or the right Club and that stuck in the throat of many of the Cons Party old leadership.

The party at his time was as split then as it is now.

The problems of labour have some similarity and much of their problems are due to those who think they should be in power, but were rejected by the party membership.

Interesting to watch!

Nice an quite.... quite. Each man will have his vote, even former tory ministers have that privilege. You can be sure his wont be a "postal vote" that the left like so much.

Haystack - 20 Dec 2015 21:30 - 66494 of 81564

There will have to be postal voting as there was in the Scottish referendum. You cannot disenfranchise people who cannot get to the voting stations. It is mandatory in the Representation of the People Act.

MaxK - 20 Dec 2015 21:55 - 66495 of 81564

Postal voting with verification is fine.

Anything else is an invitation to fraud.

Vote early, vote often!

Chris Carson - 20 Dec 2015 23:50 - 66496 of 81564

My God am I dreaming, Fred praising a Conservative politician. Dementia slowly creeping into his red mind.

Always had this vision of Fred, sat there in his 1946 demob suit, chairing the local Wheel Tappers and Shunters club, oversize flat cap ringing his bell announcing the highlight of the evening "Meat Pies Have Come"

His ever suffering wife complaining Fred never takes me anywhere except that sxxt hole Labour Club. Fred giving her a shake sometime in the seventies at half past six on a Saturday morn...."Well Are You Coming To The Strike Meeting Or What?"

Merry Christmas And A Happy New Fred! :0)

Blimey CC you do seem to have an rather unhealthy fixation about some people on here, have you seen anyone about it?

Haystack - 21 Dec 2015 00:16 - 66498 of 81564

Lefties usually perform true to type.

Stan - 21 Dec 2015 00:25 - 66499 of 81564

Talking about fixations, here's your nightly fix H/S

Chris Carson - 21 Dec 2015 00:32 - 66500 of 81564

No your problem Stan? No sense of humour whatsoever! :0)

Haystack - 21 Dec 2015 01:48 - 66501 of 81564

Lefties generally lack a sense of humour. Corbyn was complaining today that Parliament is not serious enough.

David Cameron is already preparing a pro-European Union dossier that will be sent out to British families ahead of the in-out referendum.

In a move that has infuriated eurosceptics in the Conservative Party, it can be disclosed that Downing Street is already planning to issue a document explaining “why we need to stay in the EU”.

It will lead to accusations that the Prime Minister is pre-judging the result of his ongoing renegotiation with Brussels and comes amid speculation that at least one Cabinet minister will resign in the New Year in order to campaign for Britain to leave the EU.
