THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

68386 - tell that to the labour party and corbyn .... doesn't really want to vote to stay in eu, and assuredly wants to get rid of trident!

btw, DC had to take a stand one way or another, and had little choice other than to back staying in eu

The old adage still holds true today of knowing the man by the company he keeps and our Dave has managed to attract a motley crew to his cause. The common thread of his new friends is socialism. Something for nothing.
Any business that ran that way would go bankrupt. Which is why so much of the EU is in total distress. Hardly surprising its citizens want to come here.

iturama - 28 Feb 2016 11:53 - 68390 of 81564

Imagine a business community where, if you made a profit , you had to pay part of it to another company that had made a loss even if its business plan was totally unrealistic. Who would invest in that sort of arrangement?
Well that is the EU today. Be succesful and you are penalised. Be an economic cripple and you are rewarded. At least financially. In terms of dignity, your nation is humiliated for the false promises of its leaders.

question .....
will the new minimum wage in uk (£7.20 from april rising eventually to ~ £9.00 ph i think) be more than in any other eu country?

it's impossible to start taking assorted taxes, cost of living and the like into account

iturama - 28 Feb 2016 13:00 - 68392 of 81564

ttps://www.reinisfischer.com/what-minimum-wage-european-union-2015

As you see in the table, The UK is already the highest pay, after Luxembourg. Calculations are in euros, so exchange rate dependent. See the lowest rates of pay to imagine the lure problem.

Links broke, all you get is gibberish.

Working now.

Bulgaria = €1.15 ph.

cynic - 28 Feb 2016 13:12 - 68395 of 81564

very interesting, but if you use current ROE - 1.10 €/$ and 1.40 £/$) - you'll probably have a completely different answer - ie uk lagging behind the other heavyweights of NL, Belgium, Germany, France and Ireland

however, come April and the uk minimum wage rises to £7.20, but I have no idea what is happening in other eu countries

iturama - 28 Feb 2016 13:48 - 68396 of 81564

Current exchange rate is 1.27 euros to the £ . The £: $ rate is very low historically for the reasons we know about.
So today the UK minimum wage is the same as Germany's in euros and will be second only to Luxembourg in a month's time.
I use to know Luxembourg more as a radio station than a EU 'country'. The size of Northamptonshire with a smaller population. Statistically irrelevant. In fact just irrelevant. Little wonder that its former PM (shouldn't that be just mayor?) is now President of the European Commission. First class credentials.

what odds that the express is telling the whole truth?

The tory party at its best:

TANKER - 29 Feb 2016 09:32 - 68400 of 81564

CAMERON said at the election he wanted to give the brits the right to a free vote on the eu
now he wants to stop the true facts of what the eu costs the uk
what sort of nutter calls for a vote then tells the voters if you vote out it will be terrible for the uk .
the man is a LIAR A DERANGED LUNATIC
THE MAN IS ONLY INTERESTED IN IS FRIENDS AND IS FAILY GETTING MILLIONS IN LANDSUBIDES FROM THE EU VIA UK TAXES

CAMERON IS A NATIONAL DISGRACE

FACTS OVER 4.1 M IMIGRANTS ON AVGE GET BETWEEN 6K AND 10K A YEAR IN BENEFITS YET THIS GOV AS TAKEN MONEY OFF THE DISABLED BRITS
BROUGHT IN BED ROOM TAX .
HAVE LOOKED AT ALL SIDES OF THE EU AND CAN FIND NOTHING THAT IS GOOD FOR THE WORKING BRITISH CLASSES

NOT ONE THING ITS ALL FOR THE RICH LAND OWNERS AND FORRIEGN COMPANIES
WHO JUST WANT CHEAP LABOUR SUPPORTED BY THE UK TAX PAYERS TO MAKE UP THE WAGES ,
IT STINKS

GET US OUT VOTE OUT

TANKER - 29 Feb 2016 09:33 - 68401 of 81564

CAMERON THE LIAR

TANKER - 29 Feb 2016 09:34 - 68402 of 81564

HAVE SENT HIM FOUR LETTERS CALLING HIM A BLOODY LIAR LIAR LIAR
HE AS NOT ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS .

cynic - 29 Feb 2016 10:28 - 68405 of 81564

as has been pointed out elsewhere, surely the draw for immigrants is more that our (new) minimum wage is at the top of the league in europe

the generous benefits system is just a bonus
restricting these benefits will have little effect

TANKER - 29 Feb 2016 10:28 - 68406 of 81564

jimmy migrants are costing the uk billions ever year 90% of migrants are on benefits
if all the poles went back to Poland it would be bankrupt ,
and this is why these eu countries do not want the uk to vote out
it is only them that benefit from the uk tax payers.

the brits are paying the cost to our services
which by getting benefits pay nothing for the services its all take

if the voters in the uk want to end up very poor with no services as such then vote in
and their children on the streets no homes no jobs no benefits because the uk will go bang migrants put nothing in to the uk only big foreign companies are making money and the tax payers pay the cost

TANKER - 29 Feb 2016 10:34 - 68407 of 81564

councils in Lincoln Stafford and several others are now speaking about funding
saying that must migrants live around 6 to 10 per home and only one council tax
all the others get free services and want more funds from gov to meet the costs

90% pay nothing in to the system they get benefits
