The US is a nation of immigrants. Waves of immigrants have landed and pulled themselves up by their bootstraps despite, in many cases, not speaking the language or having family for support. In the US it is very much racism. It is not reasonable to equate immigration with the situation of black people in the US. The entry of black people into the US was hardly what could be termed immigration in search of a better life.
