How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Look a better team than last year. Wonder if they will have the same luck?

Nice to see Bolton drifting during the half time interval :-)

Harlosh - 14 Dec 2005 20:52 - 6992 of 10502

I've laid em too Steve. They only need to draw to go through. They must be a little scared to concede a goal.

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 20:58 - 6993 of 10502

Its just seems a dire game to me where neither side has the desire or ability to create decent chances

a goal for seville would improve it as a spectacle (and my book)

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:06 - 6994 of 10502

reduced my risk on bolton - not quite sure why (apart from not so much profit left on the drift) will now switch to scalping the draw

bakko - 14 Dec 2005 21:09 - 6995 of 10502

Currently on the Bolton draw myself...No urgency whatsoever from both teams!

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:09 - 6996 of 10502

Bolton 1-0 up

lucky me

bakko - 14 Dec 2005 21:10 - 6997 of 10502

S**t!

Harlosh - 14 Dec 2005 21:10 - 6998 of 10502

Luckier than I.

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:11 - 6999 of 10502

Had just greened up my lay at 3.8 and hadnt started backing the draw.

Unlucky Bak though with a bit of luck Seville will at least try to make a game of it (though they have no real incentive to do so)

bakko - 14 Dec 2005 21:13 - 7000 of 10502

Not really exposed too much on Bolton so will try and scalp out of situation

bakko - 14 Dec 2005 21:14 - 7001 of 10502

Man U now 3-0 up

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:17 - 7002 of 10502

Just having a quick look at tomorrows cricket.

The tour moves ontop Karachi for one day (England refused to play a test match there due to security concerns) and the security fears are likely to play on some of the England players minds.

England will be without Pietersen who has flown home due to a rib injury with Ian Bell likely to be his replacement in the 12 (Solanki will prob start and Bell or Blackwell be the supersub)

Pakistan have the disgraced Shahid Afridi back at his home ground (co-incidentall on the length of his suspension?) and he brings a lot to the one day game. Is likely to replace Kaneria and also open the batting.

Pakistan are shorter (1.62) than in previous games (no surprise based on the last result and the team changes). Whoever wins the toss is likely to bat first on what should be a good wicket with 280 a minimum for the side batting first. That said if Pakistan bat first and Afridi gets off to a flyer then the odds will collapse very quickly (likewise his wicket will see a large change in the odds)

Englands recent record batting second is poor and it appears there is an advantage batting first due to the lights in this series, so it is probably a must win toss for England

Harlosh - 14 Dec 2005 21:25 - 7006 of 10502

Bloody hell. Had drifted onto something else. Going to do it now!

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:25 - 7007 of 10502

Few quid of my profit onto Sevilla at 14

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:27 - 7008 of 10502

Dont understand how Bolton are less than half the price of Seville

Fundamentalist - 14 Dec 2005 21:33 - 7009 of 10502
