How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Anyone watching the racing? the winner of the 2.40, the Listener could well be one to keep an eye on in advance of Cheltenham. I suspect will be aimed at the Royal Sun Alliance and on todays evidence a real classy jumper and a good cruising speed - be interesting to see him have to battle off the bridle but certainly one to follow

Scripophilist - 16 Dec 2005 14:50 - 7061 of 10502

Yes I was watching, the pundits seem keen on it as well. Very impressive.

In 14:40 I would have won 69k if the 1000-1 shot came in. Covered a position while squaring up and accidently backed at very long odds and unable to reverse the position. Was fun to watch.

Fundamentalist - 16 Dec 2005 14:53 - 7062 of 10502

Theyve already killed the price for the RSA so will keep an eye on it, its in the notebook to keep an eye on

Id backed the second e/w, didnt realise how good the Listener was (would only have played the place market otherwise!)

WOODIE - 16 Dec 2005 15:02 - 7063 of 10502

fundy i watched i layed him in running was so good could not get out of it.

Scripophilist - 16 Dec 2005 15:23 - 7064 of 10502

Not much money on the 15:30, Have I missed something? Just went for a tea, anything happened since I have been away?

Fundamentalist - 16 Dec 2005 15:36 - 7065 of 10502

All the money came for an outsiser called back with a bang

Fundamentalist - 16 Dec 2005 15:45 - 7066 of 10502

Who in their right mind backed Desert Quest at evens and just below in running?

Scripophilist - 16 Dec 2005 16:06 - 7067 of 10502

A useful day over here, will probably leave it at that. The last two races don't look interesting.

Fundamentalist - 16 Dec 2005 16:12 - 7068 of 10502

Scrip

me too, had a much better day today (last few have struggled a bit).

Have switched over to the snooker to watch Davis turn back the clock against Hendry (he was matched at 300 to win tournament and is about to go 6-1 up in the semi final in the stronger half of the draw!!!)

Scripophilist - 16 Dec 2005 16:26 - 7069 of 10502

I have half an eye on that, would be a great story!
