Provexis Buy at 3.25p - Target 8p (PXS)

peeyam - 08 May 2007 11:30

LONDON (AFX) - Provexis PLC said it has entered into a long-term collaboration agreement with Unilever PLC to jointly develop a new concentrated format of its patented Fruitflow heart-health technology for application in Unilever's food product portfolio.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The partners plan to enter into a global licence arrangement for the technology.

Fruitflow is a patented natural extract from tomato which Provexis said has been shown in human trials to reduce the propensity for aberrant blood clotting that is typically associated with cardiovascular disease and which can lead to heart attack or stroke.

In 2005 the market for heart benefit foods was worth 4 bln usd globally, Provexis added.

Considering the growth potential this share has a target of about 8-10p in the medium tern and is a good buy at current levels

As usual, pls do ur own research.

Pinched off another bb.

Daily express May 08 2009, page 64:-
"Unilevers new ideas to pump up volume."
In article it mentions
"Unilever is also planning a major drive on healthy margarines and spreads"
It then goes on to say
"Butter should carry a health warning like cigarettes, said Polman.
"It is a major cause of cardio vascular disease."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now that suggests to me that Univlever is still working with Provexis to enable their planning for a major drive on healthy margarines and spreads, and on the tubs it will say contains fruitflow that helps protect against major causes of cardio vascular diseases. IMHO
Now for Provexis to support the massive market of Unilever you would need a lot of tomatoes to make that concentrated Fruitflow.
Article also mentions Unilever "Has begun buying "sustainable" tomatoes from areas where they do no environmental damage"
Similar environmental message on side of Sirco cartoon.
So, IMHO, Unilever could still be planning to work with Provexis.

thanks Blanche, that's actually very good news - especially if they are already buying the source ingredients....posted the link over on the PXS board on iii which is very active if a little irreverent.

cheers

IMHO we could be awaiting a double-whammy announcement confirming a tie-up with Coke and Unilever.

Agreed that iii board has too much o/t chatter.

Please feel free to contribute to the ADVFN thread.

European Health Claim Adoption for Fruitflow (Provexis)

PROVEXIS PLC

("Provexis" or the "Company")

European Health Claim Adoption for Fruitflow

Provexis plc, the life-science business that discovers, develops and licenses
scientifically-proven functional food, medical food and dietary supplement
technologies, is pleased to announce the adoption of scientific substantiation
of a health claim for the Company's Fruitflow anti-thrombotic technology by the
European Food Safety Authority ("EFSA").

The European Commission has introduced regulation aimed at harmonizing and
approving nutrition and health claims on foods. EFSA intends to establish an
EU-wide list of permitted claims by 2010 and health claims which do not comply
will be prohibited. Provexis submitted a health claim dossier in late 2008 under
Article 13(5) which regulates newly developed science or claims with proprietary
data.

Following a review by the EFSA panel, it was judged that a cause and effect
relationship has been established between consumption of Fruitflow and the
reduction of platelet aggregation in humans. EFSA has now adopted the scientific
opinion substantiating the health claim and this will go through the final
authorization procedure in the coming weeks.

Stephen Moon, Chief Executive of Provexis plc said:

"We understand that Fruitflow is the first technology to have a health claim
adopted by EFSA under Article 13(5) of the new legislation. While the process
has required intensive resource allocation over the last few months, we are
supportive of the new framework, given it clears the way for
scientifically-substantiated products to prevail in the market. This is a major
milestone for Provexis and one which we believe will have a very positive effect
on current and future commercial negotiations. It is also recognition of the
quality of our business, its technologies and our scientific and regulatory
capabilities."

FOR PEEPS WHO ARE JUST LOOKING IN

LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - Provexis is in advanced talks with a "top three" ingredients manufacturer that wants to use its Fruitflow product, a tomato-extract that can be added to drinks and dietary supplements to help circulation.

The British developer of health foods whose clinical claims have received regulatory approval added on Tuesday that such a deal would be "transformational" for its business.

"It's not a general discussion, it's a specific discussion about the terms on an agreement," Chief Executive Stephen Moon told Reuters, adding that things would happen "pretty rapidly" once he finalises the details of the deal.

"They've got a major launch exercise planned, they've obviously talked to some of their major clients already but they would like to go through a major formal launch procedure," he said.

He said that the deal would give the company access to brands across the world, and that it would be "transformational" for Provexis.

Moon said the prospective partner was among the world's top three ingredients businesses.

"(They) have strategic relationships with all the major brand owners such as Danone and Coca-Cola , but in addition to that they can reach a part of the market which we can't reach which is all the regional brand around the world.

"Our first license deal will be transformational for the business by definition, yes it is a big milestone in the development of the business."

Earlier the company reported that for the year ended March 31 2009 its loss attributable to shareholders widened to 4.6 million pounds ($7.38 million) against 1.2 million last time.

good volume, though biased to selling perhaps and good rises following tree shake earlier and much based on the fact that fruitflow is currently the only certified scientificly proven beneficial food in europe - not even danone can manage that - so get your shares in and wait a little longer.....

Global Nomad - 25 Jun 2009 08:30 - 85 of 1204

continued strength this morning, spread down to much narrower range, looking good

skyhigh - 26 Jun 2009 09:07 - 86 of 1204

topped up with 75k more this morning at 1.075p...showed as a sell!

moneyplus - 26 Jun 2009 10:28 - 87 of 1204

I dipped my toe in yesterday--only 41k so far so peanuts really but exciting potential. I looked in tesco for their drink marketed as Sirco but not stocked yet---only in waitrose apparently has anyone tried it?

kimoldfield - 26 Jun 2009 11:03 - 88 of 1204

I tried it when it first came out a couple of years ago as an experimental drink, back then it had a cinnamon /nutmeg flavour, not unpleasant but I would imagine not to everyone's liking.

moneyplus - 26 Jun 2009 12:07 - 89 of 1204

well if it catches on like tomato ketchup we'll have made a good investment--my husband drowns everything in ketchup because of it's defensive ingredients against prostate cancer! or could be a defense against my cooking!! If this agreement is signed they expect to add it to many more drinks and foods and I've read this is the only co. to have had scientific approval that it's extract actually works. patience needed but this could be very rewarding. sorry if you think I'm ramping---dyor!

skyhigh - 26 Jun 2009 12:33 - 90 of 1204

Not ramping at all.. let's hope we all get rewarded handsomely!

I got in several yrs ago with a couple of purchases of around 3.65p on the back of deals that were mooted then but sold out at a big loss when it all looked bad. So I've got back in again (ss well as still holding an original batch)
I feel we are exactly that stage again now ....just wtg for the good news !
