Yes seq that was rather disappionting coming from you..

Sequestor - 13 Jul 2005 09:38 - 7215 of 27111

what else is there to say, I don`t want to rub my short in,you can blame that PMT cretin,
actually ramping twts like him rev. up the ramps when they realise that the end is near, thats what they are paid for- he is a professional you know?

Chiva20 - 13 Jul 2005 09:47 - 7216 of 27111

I think Seq and Paul are husband and wife.

Sequestor - 13 Jul 2005 10:01 - 7217 of 27111

seriously though, it is just this chipping of a tick or two a day which sends share prices into a black hole, its the same with every penny dreadful, people "waiting for news", at this rate of fall you are looking at 20p at the weekend, and that is emotive if broken, the best bet is to sell now on a T+25,at least you lock todays price in, if it improves you can always close and buy it back without much loss, if it doesn`t you have "shorted" your own shares and can pocket a profit- easy.

proptrade - 13 Jul 2005 10:05 - 7218 of 27111

Seq - showing your age again....good old T+25! haven't dealt that for a while. out of interest what does your broker charge?

robinhood - 13 Jul 2005 10:09 - 7219 of 27111

Getting a bit frustrated with the lack of a decent RNS. Keep tweaking my stop loss order as with my luck the minute I get taken out a RNS will be announced....Having said that , if anyone has an inkling if something is going to happen this or next week on that score please let me know. For all those who have shorted SEO , just for near term gain, all i can say to you is a. you were right b. your balls are bigger than mine c. silly mistake to make as you may not get back onboard that easily. (and yes all of the above applies......)

Sequestor - 13 Jul 2005 10:22 - 7220 of 27111

prop-
broker charges nothing extra, and he usually get me a price within the spread, but that is the great thing about age , give it time and you make contacts- even with brokers- as you know, but he does insist I have the certificate
before shorting-not a nominee-, however I am old fashioned enough to like at least one broker still on certificates.

proptrade - 13 Jul 2005 10:51 - 7221 of 27111

nothing wrong with that....i still use one traditional guy to really work hard and the rest is all cfd and spread (less than 10 basis points at manspreadtrading.com is fantastic).

when i started out as a market maker i dealt on the small order side and maybe 1 in 20 trades was a request for extended settlement. this was still in t+10 (before t+5 and then t+3). the rolls every month were great..no risk and a few basis points over our costs.

out of interest, what does your broker charge?

stockdog - 13 Jul 2005 11:21 - 7222 of 27111

robinhood - that's the point of a stoploss - you can't "tweak" it with any sense of rationale, unless there is definitely some external factor that allows you to reassess the stock on fundamentals or market sentiment. Since you complain there is none, the stop loss is telling you what to do!

You are caught between two risks:
1) You hold and the price drops - this leads to a loss
2) You sell and the price rises - this leads to a loss of profit, not quite the same as a loss
Is your stop loss there to protect a paper profit already made, or to protect a loss from a recent acquisition?
What is your timescale for this share to perform?

Being in at an average of 13.8p, having topped up all the way up from 8p, my first entry (relative newcomer, you see), I am watching the 20p support level as my trigger. Prior to that the SP may dwindle down on lack of news and a bored market. If it breaches that it will indicate a definitive shift in market sentiment and may well then fall sharply - after which point you can buy in again when sentiment shifts back or on good fundamental news, at least covering the spread/dealing costs and being no worse off, maybe better.

It's easy to become obessessed with every daily tick up or down of a share which has been such a source of interest recently - looking at the end of year and then another 6 months out, I cannot see any reason to sell and expect it to perform well over that time scale.

That said, results of the third trial (cue Harry Lime theme!) would be very handy, if only to allay mild doubts that the third time might not be so stunningly successful as the first two trials. After that, roll out will happen as it will, beyond probably most people's powers of prediction.

It's not often one can claim to be invested in a good set of IP-protected products with universal application in a market that is bound to adopt them due to both government pressure on the environment and pure bottom-line economics run by a really good management with only the tip of the iceberg showing so far - 20p who cares? unless you're a short-term trader with a different (equally valid) agenda.

Here stoppeth the lossen (as Niels might say!)

ah sorry prop misunderstood you, I use four brokers- one is an OEIC manager- his charges -don`t ask-astronomical, but its offshore so one pays, then I have a sipp
and peps/isas which I seldom trade so the 1.75% with advice charge is actually minimal. then a telephone a/c with the `friendly` T+ with certificate broker for punting and interesting chats- 1% up to 4k then half % after that-BUT only a tenner to close, then a bog standard internet a/c 20 or so,oh and I use them for rollovers (the spread usually amounts to a charge of 40 or so), blimey there is more, spread betting- usual spreads, I have a few more dormant a/c`s I could probably use if stuck, doubt it tho`.
Now the outdoors calls

cheers.
