THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Manuel.

If you are ever in St Malo again, walk through the Yachting harbour and climb from the sea wall up the mount where there is a campsite. But also free for general public.

From the mount you can overlook the whole town and walk a short distance
to the old fort and German wartime fortification which look down onto the "old" town and harbour, as well as some beautiful bays and estuary.

Some very nice looking restaurants and boats in that little area.

If my grandson, is with me next summer I might take him to that club.

our cycling had finished saturday afternoon in quimperle, so we drove up to st-malo to take the pain out of catching the ferry the next morning
legs were tired all round, and it was a 15 minute walk from st-servan to the old city ...... more in order were a hot shower and a quiet drink before an excellent dinner at "le spinnaker" - too expensive for you fred! - "the velvet" is immediately opposite

I try not to open my wallet when I go out and my wife says I am very cheap to keep.

Again, when you are in Portugal and you like old towns and haven't been to Coimbra wander up from Lisbon.

Beautiful old university town.

Try the Bar do Quebra Costas.

The fish and chips may suit you.

Not too much salt.

cynic - 05 Sep 2016 20:13 - 73306 of 81564

i think i read that there was not really that much of interest in coimbra

A very old university town positioned on a hillside above a river.

Go when the university is in term and has a fete.

Anyway isn't it time at your age that you bought an electric bike.

I have a 30year old scooter on the back of my motorhome for when I am in France and a bicycle on the back of the car. Managed to do 30miles three times last week trying to get fit again.

No problems.

cynic - 06 Sep 2016 09:13 - 73309 of 81564

chuckle - not sure whether or not you are older than me
cycling's fine for cardio but useless for core which is also particularly important

VICTIM - 06 Sep 2016 09:47 - 73310 of 81564

Freda are you really Judith Chalmers , could explain a lot i suppose .

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2016 10:12 - 73311 of 81564

I forgot.

I didn't take the bike off the back of the car.

However, it seemed to enjoy the drive.

Is she saying lips or hips?

I wonder how many declarations are going to come back and haunt her?

VICTIM - 06 Sep 2016 10:21 - 73314 of 81564

That must be hard for you Freda to sit on a bike all that time , means you can't talk out of your @rse , ouch .

Repeal of fixed term Parliament Act Bill in the Lords

http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2016-17/fixedtermparliamentsrepeal.html

iturama - 07 Sep 2016 08:15 - 73317 of 81564

Since when can the non-elected noses in the trough repeal an act approved by both houses? The Commons makes law and breaks law. The fixed term act may have been a stupid sop to Clegg but repeal has to be initiated by going through the committee stage again and not by an ancient naturalized Indian. Or that is my understanding.

Fred1new - 07 Sep 2016 08:39 - 73318 of 81564

Returning to roots.

Haystack - 07 Sep 2016 11:05 - 73319 of 81564

It will go to Commons. Will frighten Labour

Haystack - 07 Sep 2016 11:08 - 73320 of 81564

Timetable of Bill

MaxK - 07 Sep 2016 11:11 - 73321 of 81564

Sounds like a good idea from May's point of view...no opposition worth talking about.

Haystack - 07 Sep 2016 11:15 - 73322 of 81564

Not sure she will call election. It just gives her the option. Labour are broke and in a mess so they will be scared.
