Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

3 points at stake and both teams in excellent form....shame that the blues were not on top of their game against Inter.

Why ?
Sooner teams like Chelsea and Man City with their "we can buy anything" owners get bored then the rest of us can once again look foward to seeing a decent race for the title / cup / E cup.
Hope anyone but Chelsea win the league and anyone but Man City come fourth.

Chelsea being out of European Cup may just give them the impetus (certainly possessed it yesterday against Villa) to go on and win the Premiership, cause we will never hear the end of it if the Mancs go on to win it.
Personally, I know this is being negative but would prefer United to be out of European Cup also, Rooney is paramount to Englands chances of progress fingers crossed to the final. Ferguson quite rightly will allow him to burn himself out in Uniteds cause to the end in both comps, ok he rested him yesterday against Hull but you can bet your life it won't happen again before end of season, unless United get an unassailable lead which isn't going to happen.

Dil - Spot on! Everton have taken six points of City this season, if you weigh up the money City have spent and the money Moye's has spent scary! The expression on Lescott's face on Tuesday night was priceless, (greedy bastard).

Don't tend to watch many non cfc games myself (excluding MOTD), but Bayern v Mancs looks a decent one.

Re - Rooney - For England anyway, every cloud has a silver lining! Be interesting to see how the Mancs cope without him, convinced they wont. Chelsea or Arsenal must now be favourites for Premiership, judging by the way Arsenal are being given a football masterclass by Barca out of European Cup next week, now 2-0 down at home and another half hour to go.

Yes tremendous....the Gunners will have to play better in the Nou Camp and I'm convinced they will...Barca's and MU's defenses are not that good (except Van der Sar)...(can never spell his name,sorry)....Arsenal need some English gusto (if you can call it that) with some English or British isles players in there....I, if I was Arsene Wenger...would scout around in league one or two for some players and there are that would fit the bill...that's what they are missing....anyway you have to say that Barca are a great team...and Arsenal could have been buried without the brilliance of Almunia (best player of the night)....MU will have to go at Bayern who don't have a great defense,,,but it will be a question of scoring more goals than them because they will probably get one at old trafford.

Delighted!!! Man Utd got exactly what they desrved. Started with 10 men and finished with 10 men. Can you imagine the furore and whingeing complaints by that two faced bastard Ferguson if Capello had played Rooney tonight in an England match! Rooney has the brains of a seven year old but Ferguson should have known better, who knows what damage has been caused to that ankle. Ok the turning point came in the game when the young lad through naivety got sent off. Rooney has carried that team this season, Ferguson is a disgrace to gamble his recovery by playing him tonight.

How ironic would it be if Liverpool were to make it to the Europa semis ?...the other big 3 being knocked out !...

There you go, it's crazy! For many years the fans (so called) of the top four clubs who legitamely qualify for that reason to play in the European Cup have labelled what is now called the Europa Cup as the 'mickey mouse cup'. Why should they be allowed on being knocked out of the European Cup to not only get a second bite of the cherry, but to play in a competition they didn't qualify for and steal the glory from the teams that did? Admittedly I'm biased as far as Liverpool are concerned Kopite Gobshites :o)

Had to laugh listening to Ferguson's post match interview on Sky, when he was commenting on the Bayern team surrounding the referee asking for Rafael to be sent off. "This is what the Germans do". His team have been doing that every week in the premiership for years.
