How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

A goal from either side will hopefully ignite this match!

Just didn't seem like either of them wanted to win.

Bugz - 03 Jan 2006 21:07 - 7516 of 10502

Yeah I noticed the odds were moving loads at HT. I made three ticks on arsenal going out. Strange....

John,

Not sure (Asian money maybe?) but I find that during half time most odds tend to drift even if the team is ahead. I've even managed to take advantage of this drift on many occasions. Traders closing positions?

Harlosh - 03 Jan 2006 21:13 - 7518 of 10502

Thanks Bak. Strange though.

bakko - 03 Jan 2006 21:44 - 7519 of 10502

Just scalped 30+ ticks on the draw and now all green.

Harlosh - 03 Jan 2006 21:45 - 7520 of 10502

Bought back and greened up but used the profit to lay the draw so hoping for a goal now.

bakko - 03 Jan 2006 21:50 - 7521 of 10502

You've only got 3 mins for your goal

Bugz - 03 Jan 2006 21:53 - 7522 of 10502

Tell me about it!!!

LOL. Always end up f&*king up when I bet on my own bloody team.......

Always say I wont, and always end up doing it!!!!!!

Harlosh - 03 Jan 2006 21:54 - 7523 of 10502

I know Bak but I only had a relatively small profit so I was hoping to max it up by laying the draw. Didn't work though!

bakko - 03 Jan 2006 21:55 - 7524 of 10502

End of a pretty poor game although 2nd half was slightly better.

Bugz - 03 Jan 2006 21:55 - 7525 of 10502

Well managed to limit the loss by quite a bit so not too annoyed. C'est la vie innit?!!

Hehe...!

Harlosh - 03 Jan 2006 21:57 - 7526 of 10502

Goodnight guys

bakko - 03 Jan 2006 21:57 - 7527 of 10502

Sorry Bugz.

John...We could do with a night out soon to see the new year in!

Harlosh - 03 Jan 2006 22:00 - 7528 of 10502

YES Bak, Steve mentioned it a few posts above. Anytime for me. Will try and grab Steve then and arrange a date. Any preference fro you? One Thursday night again?

bakko - 03 Jan 2006 22:05 - 7529 of 10502

Any Thurs is good for me too. Hopefully, Steve will catch this and we can agree on a mutually convenient date...Sooner rather than later!

Evening guys

what a dire game, thought Rooney was stupid with the handball and many refs would have sent him off and thought we should have had a pen but all in all 0-0 was probably the right result. Both sides are desperately short in midfield which resulted in the 2 sides cancelling each other out. Henry looks barely fit and I dare say he needs a rest

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 22:34 - 7531 of 10502

My diary is pretty free, so anytime should be ok with me

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 22:58 - 7532 of 10502

start in the cricket delayed due to rain, backed the draw at 1.76

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:10 - 7533 of 10502

fcast for the day looks quite poor with potential for drizzle/showers most of the day

draw price in freefall :-)

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:13 - 7534 of 10502

Closed at 1.41 - cant see it going much lower unless the whole day gets washed out
