How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Evening guys

what a dire game, thought Rooney was stupid with the handball and many refs would have sent him off and thought we should have had a pen but all in all 0-0 was probably the right result. Both sides are desperately short in midfield which resulted in the 2 sides cancelling each other out. Henry looks barely fit and I dare say he needs a rest

My diary is pretty free, so anytime should be ok with me

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 22:58 - 7532 of 10502

start in the cricket delayed due to rain, backed the draw at 1.76

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:10 - 7533 of 10502

fcast for the day looks quite poor with potential for drizzle/showers most of the day

draw price in freefall :-)

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:13 - 7534 of 10502

Closed at 1.41 - cant see it going much lower unless the whole day gets washed out

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:27 - 7535 of 10502

Laid draw at 1.53 as covers start to come off

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:32 - 7536 of 10502

Out at 1.68

maybe i should just trade the weather in future!!!!!

Fundamentalist - 03 Jan 2006 23:55 - 7537 of 10502

looks like play will start at midnight - assuming im on my own tonight?

would expect the moisture to make batting a bit more tricky this morning and also a bit of swing with the heavy cloud cover. Will be happy to lay the draw as long as they are playing!

Fundy.....nice trading, having broadband problems here, very slow tonight, been
buisy trading futures a very happy bunny i am.
Aus need to hold on to wickets for the first setion

Cloudbase - 04 Jan 2006 00:06 - 7539 of 10502

Lol.... that live link i had now playing program from Dubi

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 00:06 - 7540 of 10502

Cloudbase

well done on the futures :-)

bit of swing early on and looks like the weather fcast for the next few days has deteriorated

Cloudbase - 04 Jan 2006 00:16 - 7541 of 10502

Thanks,
Could be some wild swings then if the weather dodgy, still got the draw lay which i need to trade out, but only small, so no wory

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 00:35 - 7542 of 10502

Just laid the draw for a lump at 1.6

Ponting/Hussey look well set but they are also scoring very quickly, which will keep the draw price propped up to a degree while wickets will see it drift

Cloudbase - 04 Jan 2006 00:36 - 7543 of 10502

Looks like back Aus was the trade, come in a long way.

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 00:39 - 7544 of 10502

Yep, but risky, an early wicket would have seen the price disappear out

Draw lay looks almost risk free assuming the weather holds, even without wickets it seems not to want to fall below 1.55

Cloudbase - 04 Jan 2006 00:45 - 7545 of 10502

Thanks.... need to learn where the risk free trades are or i'll get kicked when i
increase size

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 00:51 - 7546 of 10502

Cloudbase

the free trades are invariably laying the draw - the market is making it quite clear here that runs arent going to shorten the price, a wicket will lengthen it so only a stagnant period of blocking (Symonds/Gilchrist next 2 in!) or the dreaded weather the dangers (rain being the biggest one). That said the longer the partnership goes on then the less impact a wicket will have when it finally comes

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 00:56 - 7547 of 10502

Nel just trapped Hussey plumb in front given not out :-)

Fundamentalist - 04 Jan 2006 01:05 - 7548 of 10502

strange market reaction to the not out, brought the draw backers in again

Cloudbase - 04 Jan 2006 01:11 - 7549 of 10502

Seems like a directionless market at mo, just added a bit more to draw lay 1.51
