THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

1. There are three bins, one contains only apples, one contains only oranges, and one contains both apples and oranges.

The bins have been incorrectly labeled so that no label identifies the actual contents of the bin it labels.

Opening just one bin, and without looking in the bin, you take out one piece of fruit. By looking at the fruit, how can you immediately label all of the bins correctly?

2. There are 100 coins laying flat on the table, each coin has a head side and a tail side.

10 of them are heads up, 90 are tails up. You can’t feel, see or in any other way find out which side is up.

The puzzle is how to split the coins into two piles such that there are the same number of heads in each pile.

Correct answers could win you an eye pad or maybe even an eye phone.

No matter how much 'bending over backwards', the weak liberal multiculturalist
of the west do to pacify the religion of peace...Its not going to work..

With a pro-Sharia (Islamic law) advocate now secretary of state in the Berlin
regional senate, and other Muslims even refusing to shake the hand of the
German President Joachim Gauck at events designed to promote integration,
Germans way of life is changing fast.

First puzzle is very easy. Not sure about the second one

ExecLine - 18 Dec 2016 17:39 - 75481 of 81564

The second one is by far the easiest one to solve.

Just split the coins into two heaps with 50 coins in both heaps. I guess there will then be the same number of heads in each pile. Not necessarily, "heads up", though. But that wasn't required, was it? So "Job done!"

It said: "The puzzle is how to split the coins into two piles such that there are the same number of heads in each pile."

.............................

In the first puzzle, we are told, "The bins have been incorrectly labeled so that no label identifies the actual contents of the bin it labels."

So lets pick a piece of fruit from a bin then:

eg. Let's say we get a piece of orange from the first bin we choose......

This bin has to be already labelled "Apples'. It cannot be labelled "Oranges" or "Apples and Oranges" as such labeling would be correct. The labeling has to be "incorrect". We need to re-label this bin, "Oranges" and then put it aside. Now it's correctly labelled. One down, two to go.

The other two bins are obviously still wrongly labelled. There has to be one with just Apples in it and one with both Apples and Oranges in it. There are two labels: one says "Oranges" and one says "Apples and Oranges" but we are told, these bin labels have to be incorrect.

It's pretty easy to conclude that the one that says "Apples and Oranges" must definitely contain only "Oranges" and so the last bin must contain "Apples and Oranges". We can now label them correctly. Job done!

The second one wasn't a puzzle. It was a trick.

EU set to ask Ukip group to repay almost £150,000 in 'misspent funds'

Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe is accused of misspending EU funds on party workers and Farage’s bid to become MP

Ukip is likely to be asked to repay tens of thousands of euros by European parliament finance chiefs who have accused the party of misspending EU funds on party workers and Nigel Farage’s failed bid to win a seat in Westminster.

The Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe (ADDE), a Ukip-dominated political vehicle, will be asked to repay €173,000 (£148,000) in misspent funds and denied a further €501,000 in EU grants for breaking European rules that ban spending EU money on national election campaigns and referendums.

Quite right too.

Now can we have an inspection of Cayman IsLands payments to government puppets?

grannyboy - 19 Dec 2016 16:24 - 75486 of 81564

Are the Tory's and Labour party's still being investigated by the electorial
commision?...

And it seems a bit rich coming from an organisation that allows unlimited
expenses(even gives them credit cards) to facilate ease of use of europes
taxpayer's money, and not had the accounts signed of by their auditors for
20 years...

grannyboy - 19 Dec 2016 16:50 - 75487 of 81564

Its not a coincidence that its parties that are eurosceptic's, ie Belgium,
Dutch and UKIP that are being tried by a kangaroo court, the accused
parties haven't even received the report but the 'pro-eu' media have.

And UKIP have stated they have acted well within the rules.

But when it comes to misuse of taxpayers money no one can compete
with those gangsters in Brussels, who find it exceptable in spending near
to 500 million euro's on public relations/marketing in their efforts at
trying to show how good the EU is..LOL!!
