Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?
If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?
Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?
What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Cynic, ive re worded the post, but i must say i was extremely shocked at that hamas video,
those kiddies were only about 5 years old, and being brainwashed into hating and killing,Of course anyone urging others to kill innocent people are sick regardless of faith, religeon, nationality etc,
Gausie GAY,nearly fell of my chair laughing, youve definately got the wrong impression , hes 100% an alpha male;-)
And dont get Fred going on the gay issue, hes very homophobic, then again could make for an interesting seperate thread,"whos hiding in the closet";-)
Tobasco, thanks, i like the "lady " bit, been a long time on here since i was called a "lady" ;-)

confess i have not seen the infamous video, but can imagine its imagery, whatever the intrinsic truth in it ..... i am afraid that history teaches us, or it should, that religion is often used as a mask to promote hatred or to justify aggression of one kind or another .... the medieval crusades were a good example of that, for the real political goal was to control the spice and silk routes and trades that passed through m/e

Hi everyone. Seemed a good idea to post here as I don't subscribe at the level to get the Traders' thread anymore, and lots of people I met are contributing to this thread.
Briefly: I sold almost all my shares at the start of 2007 because I didn't understand what was happening to the market, and thought it was being maniplulated too much, and the rest at the end of 2007 to buy a new house. Since then have been playing lots of small-stakes poker, and at the moment am in a small profit. But did buy some ASC and PFD recently. Occasionally make currency spreadbets, which I'm getting quite good at now.
Healthwise have had cancer of the thyroid which appears to have been eradicated after thyroid removal, so am fighting fit. Am now officially an OAP, complete with bus pass.
As for this thread - I suppose I am as qualified as most to comment on the general theme since my hearing was badly damaged by the IRA, causing me to wear two hearing aids. And it seems to me that if the main object is always to stop the fighting, the next essential is to not ignite it again by continually referring back to the various injustices perpetrated by both sides.
I take the view, regarding my own injuries, that in a war innocent people get hurt. So wars are bad. Full Stop. And it matters not who is 'in the right'. I have no grudge against the IRA because that's what happens in wars. And if Ian Paisley can come to terms with the situation then surely anyone can - though it needs a superhuman effort. Done and dusted - now just be positive and look to the future.
So it matters not who is 'in the right' in the Israel v Hamas dispute. But yes, it will probably lead to increased resentment by many Palestinians against the West simply because they need someone to vent their anger against and they are not told the true facts by their own leaders (nothing new there, since no country at war is ever given the true facts by their leaders). Unless there's a miracle...
Personally I have seen for 66 years the futility of worrying about things I cannot easily change - I concentrate on the things I can easily change. And I do not feel the slightest bit guilty.
Nice to talk to you all again.

Nah, Ruthie, I can't have been wearing pink, or I'd have remembered ;)
And you and Gausie have also met, Cynic.
Nice to hear from you, Maggot. Glad to hear you're pleased with your bus pass ;)
A friend of ours popped round a couple of years back when his scar was still fresh after his thyroid jobbie - for all of five seconds he convinced me that a girlfriend had taken a knife to his throat! He's still in his early 40s and as bouncy as ever.

Hamas police 'seize aid for Gaza'
Half the population in Gaza is dependent on aid
Hamas policemen have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels that were meant to be distributed to Palestinian civilians in Gaza, UN officials say.
A UN spokesman said policemen raided a UN warehouse on Tuesday after officials refused to hand over the aid to a Hamas-controlled ministry.
The UN said it was the first time its aid had been confiscated by Hamas.
It condemned the action and demanded the goods be immediately returned. Hamas denied its men had taken any aid.
UN spokesman Christopher Gunness said Hamas police took 3,500 blankets and over 400 food parcels.
The Hamas Social Affairs Minister in Gaza, Ahmed al-Kurd, denied that members of the Islamist movement had removed aid from a UN building.
However, he said his ministry was in dispute with the UN relief agency about how aid should be distributed.
He accused the UN of giving aid to local groups with ties to Hamas opponents.
END QUOTE
Obviously you cannot take what the BBC says as being accurate, they have made far too many errors in the past.
Also some would say that Hamas "police" are really the Israeli special forces in disguise just trying to discredit the true peace loving democratic Hamas.
Also that Gunness chap has been subverted by Mossad to tell lies against the true peace loving democratic Hamas.
Also the entire UN operation in Gaza has been compromised by Mossad against the true peace loving democratic Hamas.
Also that Obama is really a Jew and has been compromised by Mossad against the true peace loving democratic Hamas.
Anyway, even if the story was true, Hamas need the food and aid for the people who really matter in Gaza, yes, you've guessed it, the members of the true peace loving democratic Hamas.

I remember the day of the Warrington bombing very well.
Two sisters, cousins of one of the boys who was killed, often babysat for us.
Tim Parry is just one child out of so, so many who have been mercilessly sacrificed.
And, remarkably, his parents were able to find a purposeful and rewarding way out of such a devastating experience.

News today from the findings of one of the fastest UN investigations of all time - claims that a UN school had been shelled during the offensive were untrue. The school was not hit, rather some shells exploded at a Hamas firing position 'nearby'. The school and its occupants were unharmed.
The original claims that Israel had targetted and hit a UN school made front page news. I wonder whether the media will even bother to cover the truth now that it's out.

news from where?
i don't doubt what you say, but let's face it, it is absolutely impossible to be certain as to what is fact, what is fiction, and what is deliberate disinformation.
many many years ago, and i shan't bore you with the details, there was deliberate disinformation (for good reason as it happens) put out by Henry K's office as to his whereabouts one particular w/e ...... this was fully accepted by all the media .... it was not until HK's memoirs were published that this was all laid bare

Cynic - news from the UN, but this is the problem - hardly anybody is reporting it.
I think it's easy to be certain over facts such as 'does the fabric of the school building show any signs of damage'.
