Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?
If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?
Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?
What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Dil, My wife and I benefited to a certain degree from a free university education and since then paid that money back to society in tax. (Happy to do so.)
As mentioned before, I went to what could be considered a working class university with the majority of students from working and middle class backgrounds. At that time the majority of students were from Grammar schools with a few from Comprehensive schools. The majority of these students would not have been able to have afford that education without those grants.
I think the scrapping of university grants was a folly, as have some of the other moves in education.
Many of those who attended university at the same time as I did have paid less tax subsequently than we did, but by their occupations have often given the non-cash equivalent to society. This has led to the overall improvement in society.

University grants had to be stopped when it was decided that everyone could go there and the Univeristy of Croydon and others were invented.

Haystacks, I was working at Birmingham Polytechnic at the commencement of the of Polytechnics to "University". I think it led to the destruction and world leading institution with many of the leading lecturers moving abroad. The conversion of the Polytechnics to Universities was not in my opinion beneficial and has led to the dumbing down of many of the Universities.
One of my daughters who is back at university for her third degree, is appalled by the present standard of lecturing. Also appalled by the attitude of students on some parts of the courses. (The reason for her wishing to obtain other degrees is that she wishes to specialise in an area which needs multiple backgrounds.)

For those who look at BBC4 news, there was an interesting summary of the middle east problems by Jeremy Greenstock. Should be repeated a few times this am.

Dear o dear Fred the last time I saw you (with MG in tow bless him) I seem to remember opening up the conversation with "Ruth has sent me to give you a slapping"
I fear if I ever make another "Brum meet" I may have to give you a slapping for the whole BB - and I am not sure you are physically up to that!
Come to think of it neither am I!
So please Fed stop being a plonker and save us both some grief.

Martini, I think my response to you was "let me know when you start and I will finish it".
Personal abuse is not an argument.
But views of United Nations don't seem pertinent to the present problems.
Murder and carnage is being carried out in the name of defence.
Tell the bullied to stop it, but allow the bullies to continue!
How much world condemnation does the Israeli government need.
Even America is backing off at the UN.
Crazy.

I think Israel's response to the threat of rocket attacks was: "let me know when you start and I will finish it"
Your double standards are hilarious.

Fred - your arguments are so awful that one has to wonder: Is your campaign funded by the israeli government?

Gausie, As usual, if you allow yourself to think and even you should be able to understand what I said and why it was said.
I have no animosity to Martini and subsequent to the introduction enjoyed his company. But our introduction to one another was a Martini suggested, I thought it not unreasonable response. I don't like violence but not afraid of it.
Why not go back to the question contained in the heading of this thread.

Fred
If you had allowed yourself to think, perhaps you wouldnt have opened this topic on a board where all of the other posters are intelligent people who think for themselves and see right through your smokescreens.
Perhaps it's best you either rethink your position, or go spout your nonsense to the welcoming and gullible sheep on some of the other BBs.

Dil;-) very well, in fact too well;-)))
listening to Fred on here has made me realise how monotonous i must sound on the other thread, but my hearts in the right place;-) but the for"s and againsts are probably 50/50 on the other thread re the actual topic itself.
poor Fred hes all alone on this one,and agree with Gausie re Freds double standards, they are enough to make me wet my knickers ,never mind Martini wetting his y-fronts ;-)
