University grants had to be stopped when it was decided that everyone could go there and the Univeristy of Croydon and others were invented.

Haystacks, I was working at Birmingham Polytechnic at the commencement of the of Polytechnics to "University". I think it led to the destruction and world leading institution with many of the leading lecturers moving abroad. The conversion of the Polytechnics to Universities was not in my opinion beneficial and has led to the dumbing down of many of the Universities.

One of my daughters who is back at university for her third degree, is appalled by the present standard of lecturing. Also appalled by the attitude of students on some parts of the courses. (The reason for her wishing to obtain other degrees is that she wishes to specialise in an area which needs multiple backgrounds.)

Gausie, As usual, if you allow yourself to think and even you should be able to understand what I said and why it was said.

I have no animosity to Martini and subsequent to the introduction enjoyed his company. But our introduction to one another was a Martini suggested, I thought it not unreasonable response. I don't like violence but not afraid of it.
